SUMMERFEST PARTY and
ANNUAL POA MEETING on May 31st! It's time once again to celebrate the end of school and beginning of summer with our annual property owners’ party and meeting! Plan to attend—this is a great way to meet and mingle with your fellow Hunter’s Chase property owners. The event is from 4-7 p.m. at the pool/ pavilion and is free for property owners. This year will feature catering by Jardin Corona, a bounce house, and balloon art for the kids. Resident kidz rock band, RIIL Chemistry, will play at 4:45 p.m. The annual meeting begins at 5:30 p.m. We will be voting on next year's board members. Property owners wishing to run should contact Carmen Glassinger with Goodwin Management at

Hunter's Chase Gazette Tips to Peaceful Cohabitation By Lynn Maddox, Wildlife Rehabilitator for State of Texas and Director, Bill Hicks Foundation for Wildlife In the second article of the series, the focus is on adapting our behaviors in order to peacefully cohabitate with urban wildlife. These tips hopefully will help minimize the potential for human-wildlife conflict and might also save you time and money! Remember: If you see a skunk, opossum or raccoon in our area, it does not mean there is anything wrong. These creatures are resourceful and adaptive and continue to thrive all around us, even in urban areas. Adapting Our Behaviors • If you have pets you feed outside, pick up all food and water by dusk. Without a doubt, food and water left outside is the number one attractant for wildlife! • Keep garage doors closed. Wild animals have and will invite themselves into your garage to find food or create a nest at all times of day.

• Lock or close off pet doors in the evenings. The Bill Hicks Foundation for Wildlife has received numerous calls from folks who woke up to find a raccoon had wreaked havoc in their kitchen overnight, or opossum and her babies were scattered all over the house! • Secure garbage cans. Raccoons have opposable thumbs and can lift, turn, grab and twist things! • If you have a pool, keep one flotation item in the pool. If an animal falls in, they might be able to climb aboard to avoid drowning. INTERESTED IN RENTING THE POOL PAVILION? For pool pavilion rental, Hunter’s Chase residents need to send an email requesting rental to: party@lifeguard4hire. com.Please include method of contact so that Lifeguard4Hire can send confirmation of the rental. If you have questions, please call 512-267-3155, and identify yourself as a resident of the neighborhood. There is no fee to rent the pavilion. Reservation Times are in three-hour blocks, for every day of the week as follows: 11:30am to 2:30pm and 4:00pm to 7:00pm. Residents are responsible for cleaning the pavilion area, and all previous rules related to use of the area remain the same. New Requirement: Parties of 25 or more guests will be required to hire lifeguards with LifeGuard4Hire, with a minimum of two lifeguards present for the duration of the party. BABY SHOWER
Austin's Largest Baby Shower, running May 7-18, is a city-wide donation drive to collect diapers, baby clothes and micro donations. The event benefits Austin LifeCare Center, Any Baby Can and St. David’s Neonatal ICU. All three provide diapers and supplies to families in need. According to event organizers, Austin in recent years has become one of the highest-ranked U.S. cities for percentage growth of poverty in the suburbs, and there is a rising demographic of Austin’s homeless who are women and children, many priced out of the housing market due to divorce, loss of income or unexpected medical expenses. Several Austin companies have joined the event. BabyEarth, RBFCU, Balcones Country Club and more are providing their stores/locations as drop-off spots for the supply drive. When You See a Fawn Alone, Leave It Be.
Deer in Central Texas—including those in areas around our neighborhood—will be giving birth to their young this spring. Some of us, including our kids, may come across a fawn and want to get near it. Please remember the fawn is not alone. The mother is not far away, and a deer that would otherwise run from a human or a pet dog will defend her baby if she senses danger. and deer, most white-tail deer fawns are born in May and June in Central Texas, but they start to appear as soon as late April. For the first three to four weeks of their lives, the fawns are too small to follow their mothers, and it is normal for a doe to leave a fawn alone for several hours at a time. Unless the fawn is obviously sick or in an unsafe area, it should be left alone. If you think the fawn is in danger, call the Austin Wildlife Rescue hotline at 512-472-9453 (512-472-WILD).
