ELT Meeting Minutes March 20, 2018

Attendees: Pastor Mathew St. John, Pastor Paul Schoolmeesters, Jeff Westman, Saado Abboud, Cort Cieminski, Derrick Grow, Jerry Hoffman, Armando Mazon, Tony Ringsmuth, Jot Turner, Jim Fultz, Mike Brown, Zach O’Neel Absent: Dan Johnson I. Prayer & Commissioning for Pastor Dayton Dodge - Pastor Matthew St. John The ELT laid hands on Pastor Dayton and had a sweet time of prayer and commissioning over him in his new role as NHC’s Interim Worship Pastor. II. Senior Staff Report – Justin Wevers (Student Ministries Pastor) Pastor Justin had an opportunity to share the vision and past/present/future efforts to bring students into a deeper walk with the Lord. In specific, Justin laid out the Gospel-centered, relationally-driven, and discipleship-focused mission of Student Ministries. He was also able to share what student ministries is not… it is not a replacement for family discipleship and also that student ministries is not a “church for students.” It is a ministry of our church that prepares students to connect with a church after graduating from high school. A key burden for the future is helping students and parents handle social media. Justin shared prayer requests for the ministry as well as personally, and the ELT spent time in prayer together for these things. III. Call to Order and Approval of February ELT Minutes Chairman Jeff Westman called the ELT meeting to order. A motion was made to approve the February ELT meeting minutes as written and this was seconded. The meeting minutes were then approved. IV. Senior Pastor’s Report – Pastor Matthew St. John A. Vision Dashboard Overview 1. Church Plant: Pastor Matthew shared that Gospel Life Church continues to grow in its weekly attendance is beginning to exceed the space it presently occupies. Praise to the Lord for this problem! The ELT was encouraged to pray for the Lord to provide ample space for future growth of Gospel Life Church. 2. All Peoples: Much conversation and strategy continues around this, which impacts all of our ministries. One growing pressure is the space constraints of our Spanish worship service at HopeBridge as the ministry grows. 3. Living with Purpose: The recent Four Chairs discipleship conference received good feedback from participants. The ELT was also encouraged to pray over the upcoming teaching series on mental illness. B. Deep Dive: NHC Vision/Essence Statement - Part 2 1. In a continuation of discussions that occurred at the February ELT meeting, the NHC vision statement was discussed by the ELT. The ELT discussed at length the use of language to be included in the NHC statement of purpose (a statement that combines vision & mission statements). 2. [BRACKETED ITEM] 3. The ELT will pray about proposed language for a new statement of purpose and will review this item at its April meeting. IV. Senior Associate Pastor’s Report – Pastor Paul Schoolmeesters A.
