God calls us to confess our sin Liturgist:
Galatians 5:13, 16; James 4:10
For freedom Christ has set us free. Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity to indulge the sinful nature. Walk by the Spirit, and you will not graHfy the desires of the sinful nature. Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will exalt you.
All (sing): stanzas 1, 2, and 3 of “Come, Ye Sinners” (next page)
We confess our sin All:
Our holy and gracious God, we have sinned against you and against our own bodies with impure thoughts and immoral acIons. Our sins are too real to hide and too deep to undo. Forgive what our lips tremble to name, what our hearts can no longer bear, and what has become for us a consuming fire of judgment. (silent prayers of confession)
Liturgist: All (sing):
Savior, set us free from a past that we cannot change, and help us cast all our guilt and shame upon you for you care for us and your steadfast love endures forever. Lord, give us hope that in you we can be changed, and give us grace to offer our bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to you. stanzas 4 and 5 of “Come, Ye Sinners” (next page) page 3

There’s a Wideness in God’s Mercy Chancel Choir
Text: Frederick Faber 1862 Tune: Lizzie Tourjée 1877 Arr. David Schwobel
By the tender mercy of our God, the dawn from on high will break upon us, to give light to those in darkness, light to those in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace. There’s a wideness in God’s mercy like the wideness of the sea. There’s a kindness in God’s jusHce, which is more than liberty. For the love of God is broader than the measures of our mind; And the heart of the Eternal is most wonderfully kind. By the tender mercy of our God, the dawn from on high will break upon us. If our love were but more simple, we should rest upon God’s word, and our lives would be illumined by the presence of our Lord, to give light to those in darkness, light to those in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace.

We offer ourselves in gifts and song How Can I Keep from Singing? (8:30 service) Vox Spiritus
Robert Lowry 1826-1899 Arr. Michael Burkhardt
My life flows on in endless song. Above earth's lamentaHon, I hear the sweet, though far-‐off hymn that hails a new creaHon. Through all the tumult and the strife I hear the music ringing. It finds an echo in my soul— how can I keep from singing? What if my joys and comforts die? I know that truth is living. What though the darkness ‘round me close? SHll truth its light is giving. No storm can shake my inmost calm while to that rock I’m clinging; Since Love is Lord of heaven and earth, how can I keep from singing? I li= my eyes; the cloud grows thin. I see the blue above it. And day by day this pathway smooths, since first I learned to love it, The peace from Love makes fresh my heart, a song of hope is springing; All things are mine since truth I’ve found— how can I keep from singing?
