Summary  “Love and Joy” 

This week, we’ll hear a story Jesus told about how powerful love can be. It’s about a lost son  and the love his father had for him. When we have love, it’s that much easier to have true  joy—another fruit! God loves each of us so much, and he wants us to joyfully share that love  with others. We’ll learn how we can do that this week in Kid‐O‐Deo!  Materials Needed  Freeze Dance Music

Circle Up: Alright Kid‐Os! Let’s get into a circle and on the count of 3, we’ll shout “Kid‐O‐Deo”  and sit down. Ready? 1, 2, 3…KID‐O‐DEO!  Prayer: Let’s talk to God before we have our snack. Dear God, we love you. Thank you for this  snack. Amen.     Do This: Give each Kid‐O some hand sanitizer and a snack.  Introductions: Now let’s all go around and say our names!

Know This: We want kids to feel joyful and have fun in Kid‐O‐Deo while also  remembering that God loves them. This is a time when they can move, laugh, and dance  with joy together!  Freeze Dance: Today we heard a story Jesus told about a dad and his lost son who came back  home. The dad was so excited for his son to be home that he threw him a big party to celebrate!  God is like the dad in that story because he loves each one of us so much. And God celebrates  when  we  choose  to  follow  his  Son,  Jesus!  We  can  celebrate  and  have  the  fruit  of  joy  by  remembering how much God loves us. We are going to have a dance party to show how joyful  we are to have such a great and loving God! I’ll play the music, and when it stops, I want everyone  to freeze in a pose that shows how happy you are. Let’s start dancing!  Do This: If there are multiple groups in a room, plan to do this activity all together. Lead  kids by doing fun dance moves, animal movements, jumping, running in place, etc. Stop  the music and strike a pose! Encourage kids to have fun and be silly with this activity.  Lesson Questions: I have some more questions for you.     

What did the son in the story do after he got the money from his dad? (He went away  and spent all the money.)  Was the dad happy, mad, or sad when his son came home? (Happy and full of joy! God  is like the dad when we choose to follow Jesus!)  What Fruits of the Spirit did we learn about today that the dad showed his son? (Love  and joy.) 

Repeat After Me:   

Do This: Practice the Big Idea and Memory Verse in your quiet, medium, and big voices.  Feel free to come up with your own voices as well!   Make sure you get a sticker when you leave, and don’t forget to show it to your grown‐ups!  Let’s talk to God one more time before we go. You can repeat this prayer after me if you would  like. Dear God, we love you. Thank you for loving us. Help us to be loving and joyful. Amen.
