The project involves workshops for volunteers to teach methods of construction and safety checking. Volunteers will also be taught to train the end-user in safe use of the wheelies and will also participate in 'train the trainer' exercises to ensure continuity of the project. Please provide details of how ICF funding will be used. Funding will be used to: * purchase used wheelies to refurbish - $4,000 * develop brochures, training guides and other working documents - $800 * tools, parts and equipment required for refurbishments - $1,800 * hire of premises to establish workshop $1,400

Section D: Meeting the criteria How many people do you expect your project to reach?

50

Will your project provide a lasting community asset?

our aim is for the workshop to become selfsustaining

What impact do you expect your project to have in your community? The implementation and ultimate benefits of our project will be experienced by residents in our local area as well as extending beyond to a wider 'audience'. Direct benefits to disabled residents and their carers will include enhanced well-being and social outcomes as well as promoting greater communication access simply by increasing mobility. The project encourages community volunteering across various levels of ability as well as providing some part time employment opportunities. It will further promote environmentally friendly practices while encouraging the involvement and participation of community groups, business and local institution. Does your project have the capacity to become self-sustainable? Please tell us how. Through the sale of the wheelies, the project will achieve an acceptable level of sustainability. The project itself will provide sustainable benefits to the disabled participants and their carers. With the part time employment of a number of disabled residents we see the potential to increase productivity and sales. With our access to available materials a greater focus can be applied to the skills and training of our workforce. What skills and/or knowledge will your project provide? Training and skill development are a key focus of the project. Each part-time employee will have an Individual Employment Plan (IEP) detailing employment goals, training requirements and a training plan. Volunteers to the project will receive similar but appropriately targeted training (workshops and on the job). How will you measure the success of your project? Success will be measured via the: * number of employment opportunities for disabled residents * Number of volunteers co-opted from the community * Wheelie Construction - numbers against targets IMPORTANT: To retrieve the information entered on this page you must select 'NEXT' or 'SAVE' before selecting 'BACK'

Section E: Some final information Has your organisation received grants in the past?

yes

Can you tell us about those? In 2012 we received $8,000 in funding from the IMB Bank Community Foundation. Do you have Public Liability cover? Yes Are there any risks or potential conflicts of interest that we should know about? As with any new project there is a risk that it will not be successful. However with considerable funding already committed by other organisations, we have been able to employ Betty and Fred Good and their team who have a clear vision and strategy for how the project will be implemented, we believe the risk of failure is low. Another potential risk is the death or serious injury of a disabled person using the Wheelies and we have undertaken due diligence with legal and insurance companies to mitigate this risk. We believe there is no conflict of interest that IMB needs to be informed of. Anything else you want to tell us? Our Pilot projects have tested the mechanics of the plan with clear evidence that our planned major effort to be funded will be successful. We see this application as pursuing seed funding for a project that will have sustainable benefits well into the future. How did you hear about the foundation?

Other (please specify)
