THE BIBLE IS RIGHT AFTER ALL

6/2/2019 In a world where the Bible is constantly contested it is refreshing to still know that "Thy word is true from the beginning: and every one of thy righteous judgments endureth forever." (Psalm 119:160) Now lets continue our study of; "The Bible is Right After All." I. The Bible is a Book of historical accuracy A. One of the most detailed books of the New Testament is the book of Luke.

1. Luke is an accurate historian even in the smallest details. 2. No other New Testament writer gave us the insight into the Virgin Birth like Dr. Luke. B. In the Books of Luke and Acts Dr. Luke went to great details in pinpointing geographical locations of the Apostle Paul:

1. Paul referenced;

a. 32 countries

b. 54 cities c. 9 islands 2. A prominent archaeologist carefully examined and researched Paul's many references listed above and could find not a single mistake. II. History proves Scriptures to be correct.

A. Jesus looking toward the future stated concerning Jerusalem; "See ye not all these things? Verily I say unto you , There shall not be left here one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down." (Matthew 24:2)

1. Historian Josephus wrote of the temple's destruction by the Romans in A D. 70: "They carried away every stone of the sacred temple, in a frenzied

search for every last piece of the gold ornamentation melted in the awful heat of the fire. They then plowed the ground level, and since it had already been sown with its defenders blood, they sowed it with salt." 2. Jerusalem is an example to all of what happens when God is rejected. B. Josephus also wrote about Jesus; "About this time there lived Jesus, a wise man, if indeed one ought to call him a man. For he was one who wrought surprising feats and was a teacher of such people as accepted the truth gladly. He won over many Jews and many Greeks. He was the Christ. When Pilate, upon hearing him accused by men of the highest standing among us, had condemned him to be crucified, those who had in the first place come to love him did not give up their affection for him. On the third day he appeared to them restored to life, for the prophets of God had prophesied these and countless other marvelous things about him. And the tribe of Christians, so called after him, has still to this day not disappeared."

III. The Bible is a Book of harmony

A. 40 plus authors wrote over a period of 1600 years. 1. They wrote on controversial subjects with absolute harmony from the beginning to the end.

2. There was one unfolding story from Genesis to Revelation, the redemption of mankind. 3. In the Old Testament the writers stated that the Messiah was coming. 4. In the New Testament the writers stated that the Messiah had come. 5. In the New Testament the writers stated that this same Messiah will come again. B. The Books of Genesis and Revelation are contrasted;

1. In Genesis paradise is lost

3

In Revelation paradise is regained 2. In Genesis the curse is placed upon the world.

In Revelation the curse is lifted 3. In Genesis Satan seems to rule supreme

In Revelation Jesus rules supreme and throws Satan into Hell forever. C. As we look at the Scriptures we note that;

1. Many generations of people composed the Scriptures.

2. They all came from different walks of life. 3. They came from different places.

4. They lived in different times. 5. They lived on different continents 6. They spoke at least three different languages.

7. They wrote on hundreds of controversial subjects. 8. When all their writings are brought together they are in complete harmony from beginning to end. 9. There is no other book in history that can compare to the uniqueness of the Word of God!

IV. The Bible is right about creation. A. Lets note the definition of the word "fact" in the dictionary; 1. "Something that actually exists or has occurred."

2. There is no supposition here! B. Lets look at the word "Evolution" in the dictionary;

4

1. The theory that all forms of life originated by descent from earlier forms." 2. Note the word "theory". C. Lets look at the word "Creation" in the dictionary;

1. God's bringing of the universe into existence.

2. The human race must decide between fact or theory and sad to say vast multitudes have chosen to put their brain in neutral and race the engine but end up nowhere. D. The evidence is clear, the Bible is right in defining creation. 1. When we look at a building how do we know there was a builder?

a. We can't see him. b. We can't hear him.

c. We can't touch him.

d. We can't smell him 2. The truth is the building is proof positive that there was a builder.

3. We couldn't have better evidence to prove that there was a builder than to have the building in front of us. 4. We don't even need faith to know there was a builder; a. All we need are eyes to see with.

b. We must have a brain to think with. (Which leaves many people out of the loop) E. The Bible is clear about the "building;" "The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork." (Psalms 19:1)

F. Proof positive is given; "In the beginning God crated the heaven and the earth. (Genesis 1:1) (The Bible is still right after all!)
