Welcome Thank you for joining us for this Lord’s Day service of worship. If you’re visiting us for the first time, thank you for taking the risk to come to a new place and meet new people. If you have elementary age children, they will be invited to instructional time tailored to their ages prior to the sermon. At the conclusion of the service, please join us for a time of refreshments. We look forward to meeting you.
Reflection Every musician knows that stringed instruments lose their tune. The pitch grows flat or sharp and the instrument must be retuned to perfect pitch. In like manner, God knows that our hearts lose their orientation to Him. We grow complacent or anxious. God commands us to return to Him in worship each Lord’s Day so that our hearts can be retuned to Him.
Call to Worship – Psalm 86 Minister: Among the gods there is none like you, O Lord; no deeds can compare with yours. All: All the nations you have made will come and worship before you, O Lord; they will bring glory to your name. For you are great and do marvelous deeds; you alone are God. Minister: Teach me your way, O Lord, and I will walk in your truth; give me an undivided heart, that I may fear your name. All: I will praise you, O Lord my God, with all my heart; I will glorify your name forever. For great is your love toward me; you have delivered me from the depths of the grave.
Prayer of Adoration (Concluded by the Lord’s Prayer) All: Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.
O God Beyond All Praising O God beyond all praising, we worship You today; And sing the love amazing that songs cannot repay. For we can only wonder at every gift You send, At blessings without number and mercies without end. We lift our hearts before You and wait upon Your word. We honor and adore You, our great and mighty Lord.
O God, show mercy to us and bless us with your grace; And cause to shine upon us the brightness of your face; So that your way most holy on earth may soon be known, And unto ev'ry people your saving grace be shown. Let all the peoples praise you; let all the nations sing; In every land let praises and songs of gladness ring. Now hear, O gracious Saviour, accept the love we bring, That we, who know Your favor, may serve You as our king; And whether our tomorrows be filled with good or ill, We'll triumph through our sorrows, and rise to bless You still; To marvel at Your beauty and glory in Your ways, And make a joyful duty, our sacrifice of praise. God Is For Us We won't fear the battle; we won't fear the night; We will walk the valley with You by our side. You will go before us; you will lead the way; We have found a refuge only You can save. Chorus Sing with joy now: our God is for us! The Father's love is a strong and mighty fortress. Raise your voice now: no love is greater. Who can stand against us if our God is for us? Even when I stumble; even when I fall; Even when I turn back still Your love is sure. You will not abandon; you will not forsake; You will cheer me onward with never ending grace. (Chorus) Bridge Neither height nor depth can separate us; hell and death will not defeat us; He who gave His Son to free us, holds me in His love. Scripture Reading – Psalm 32:3-4 3 For
when I kept silent about my sin, my bones wasted away through my groaning all day long. 4 For day and night your hand was heavy upon me; my strength was dried up as by the heat of summer. 5 I acknowledged my sin to you, and I did not cover my iniquity; I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the LORD,” and you forgave the iniquity of my sin.
Confession of Sin — based on Psalm 51 Minister: Have mercy on me, O God, according to your unfailing love. All: According to your great compassion, blot out my transgressions. Wash away all my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin. Minister: For I know my transgressions, and my sin is always before me. All: Against you, you only, have I sinned, and done what is evil in your sight. So you are right in your verdict, and justified when you judge. Minister: Cleanse me with the blood of Christ, and I will be clean; wash me, and I will be whiter than snow. All: Let me hear joy and gladness; hide your face from my sins, and blot out all my iniquity. Amen
Private Confession Words of Encouragement – Isaiah 53:5-6 Minister: He was pierced for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his wounds we are healed. All: All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned—every one—to his own way; and the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all.
Hallelujah, What a Savior “Man of sorrows,” what a name, for the Son of God who came, Ruined sinners to reclaim. Hallelujah! what a Savior! Bearing shame and scoffing rude, in my place condemned He stood; Sealed my pardon with His blood. Hallelujah! What a Savior! Guilty vile and helpless, we; spotless Lamb of God was He; Full atonement, can it be? Hallelujah! What a Savior! Refrain: Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Hallelujah! What a Savior! Lifted up was He to die, “It is finished,” was His cry; Now in heaven exalted high: Hallelujah! What a Savior! (Refrain) When He comes, our glorious King, all His ransomed home to bring, Then anew this song we’ll sing: Hallelujah! What a Savior! (Refrain) Lyrics and Music: Phillip P. Congregational Prayer Scripture Reading – Hebrews 4:14-16 14 Since
then we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. 15 For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin. 16 Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

Greeting our Neighbors Sermon – Grace to help in the time of need
Celebration of the Lord’s Supper Christ Presbyterian Church welcomes all baptized Christians who actively trust in Jesus Christ for salvation, who are willing to forsake their sin, and who are members of congregations that proclaim the gospel, to receive the Holy Communion with us. Baptized children are welcome to receive Communion after they profess faith and are received as communicant members.
Before the Throne of God Above Before the throne of God above, I have a strong and perfect plea; A great high Priest Whose name is Love, who ever lives and pleads for me. My name is graven on His hand; my name is written on His heart; I know that while in heaven He stands, no tongue can bid me thence depart; No tongue can bid me thence depart. When Satan tempts me to despair, and tells me of the guilt within; Upward I look and see Him there, who made an end to all my sin. Because the sinless Savior died, my sinful soul is counted free; For God the Just is satisfied, to look on Him and pardon me; To look on Him and pardon me. Behold Him there, the risen Lamb, my perfect spotless righteousness; The great unchangeable I Am, the King of Glory and of grace. One with Himself, I cannot die; my soul is purchased by His blood. My life is hid with Christ on high, with Christ my Savior and my God; With Christ my Savior and my God.
