For Block 16 executive chef Anthony Meidenbauer, the Barrymore is an opportunity to show off, as the restaurant isn’t tied to a single concept of the company’s other offerings. “To open a smaller place like this… and to be able to do whatever I want with the food … it’s pretty exciting. We can really focus on the cuisine.” he said. Meidenbauer is capitalizing on the throwback vibe with some classic dishes, an impressive cocktail list, and amazing wines. A native upstate New Yorker, he began working in kitchens near his hometown before he progressed his career at the Classic French Gastronomy at Niagra Culinary. In 2000 he decided to relocate in the rising culinary scene of Las Vegas. In Las Vegas, Anthony served as the Executive Sous Chef for the In-Room Dining Operation of Wynn Las Vegas Resort, which was awarded the coveted Mobil Five Star and AAA Five Diamond service awards. Chef Anthony prepared delectable cuisine at restaurant 3950 in the Mandalay Bay Resort where, as Assistant Executive Chef, he perfected the fusion of International European Fare and Molecular Gastronomy with domestic artisanal products. In addition, together with Block 16, Chef Anthony has also created and launched the premiere LBS Burger in Las Vegas, transported a Hollywood legend, the World Famous Pink Hot Dogs to the Planet Hollywood Resort in Las Vegas, and launched the premiere Holsteins Shakes and Buns burger joint in The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas
