BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN ACCOUNTING Whether you plan on taking the CPA, getting your master’s degree in accounting, or returning to your home country to work in accounting, UNH will help you jump start your career in no time. The Accounting Option provides students with opportunities in a variety of fields, including internal audit, external audit, tax preparation and planning, and consulting. In the U.S. demand for accountants has been consistently strong and growing. The goal of the accounting option is to prepare students for a career in accounting and the qualifications to obtain certifications, such as Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Management Accountant (CMA), and Certified Internal Auditor (CIA). The accounting option also prepares students to enter the Master of Science in Accounting program offered by the Peter T. Paul College.

Student organizations The Accounting Students Association is an academic student organization that facilitates the exchange of information about the accounting profession and networking with professionals by bringing leading industry practitioners to campus for lectures, networking, and special events.

Internships

Professional career

As part of the accounting option at UNH, students have the option of earning credits in their junior year by participating in an internship. Some students remain in the U.S. to complete these internships while others return to their home country.

The American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), the national association of professional accountants, mandated that five years of university education be required for the national certified public accountant (CPA) certification as of the year 2000. UNH offers a five-year program designed for students who desire a professional accounting career. The program leads to the joint awarding of a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and a Master of Science in Accounting degree. Application for admission to this highly selective program is done in the senior year.
