Committee on Divisional Activities (DAC)

Type

Standing Committee of the Council Appointed by the President (i) Studying and making recommendations to the Council concerning SOCIETY policy affecting interests of Divisions;

Duties as Outlined in the Bylaws

(ii)

Assisting Divisions in coordinating their efforts with SOCIETY and Local Section activities;

(iii)

Performing the duties incident to the creation of new Divisions as prescribed elsewhere in these Bylaws and making recommendations to the Council for combination or dissolution of Divisions; (6-13-99)

(iv)

Promoting interdivisional cooperation and communication, both formal and informal;

(v)

Cooperating with the Committee on Meetings and Expositions, SOCIETY bodies related to publications, and other committees in areas of mutual interest; (6-3097)

(vi)

Acting for the Council, in collaboration with the Committee on Constitution and Bylaws, in approving the affiliation of Divisions with other Technical Organizations. (6-1-73)

Semiannually, at each national meeting. Subcommittee meetings: Multidisciplinary Program Planning Group Executive Committee meets via conference call prior to the national meeting; Multidisciplinary Program Planning Group Representative Meeting meets Saturday from 2:30 – 3:30 p.m. (meeting); 3:30 – 4:30 (networking); subcommittees: Communications & Technology, Divisional Enhancement & Outreach, Governance & Reporting, and Technical Programming & Collaboration meet Saturday afternoon from 4 – 6 p.m. Full committee meets Sunday morning from 7:30 a.m. - noon. For meetings held at the national meeting, the Councilors Travel Expense Program provides funds for members and associates who are Councilors.
