This versatile new instrument speeds up and simplifies analyses of compounds whose fluorescent, phosphorescent, colorimetric and/or transmission characteristics are known. Fluorescent light, generated when the excitation light strikes the sample, passes out of the cuvette through the secondary filter (selected to pass only wavelengths of the compound's maximum emission). Transformed light is transmitted to a photomultiplier tube, where it is amplified and indicated on the direct reading meter. Transmissions can also be indicated on an accessory recorder-controller, if desired. With the use of a Multiple Sample Changer accessory, 20 samples can be prepared in advance and analyzed in rapid succession. The accessory can be used for fluorometric or nephelometric analyses. Easy conversion for colorimetry or turbidimetry By using a new funnel type flow cell, the Fluoro-Microphotometer can serve as a colorimeter or turbidimeter for routine clinical colorimetric tests (where filters are available at the proper wavelength, includ­ ing the ultraviolet regions). A new scanning accessory makes the Fluoro-Microphotometer adaptable also for density recording of Disc Electrophoresis tubes and diffusion of precipitin reactions in agar columns.
