Registration for the Showcase is now closed as we have reached our maximum number for student participation. I will be working on how to make more performance spaces available for the next Showcase, which will be in October of 2016. The photographs are free, compliments of Inner Vision Images and Natomas School of Music. Once again, there will be a raffle drawing for one month of free lessons for all students who submit a video to be posted on the Natomas School of Music Facebook page. And there will be a second prize for one month of free lessons for the student whose video receives the most views by April 30th. Student of the Month “Major Leaps & Bounds: Brandon Pelito made a gigantic improvement on several elements of his guitar playing. He is now getting clean notes with his left hand, having adjusted his left hand position more parallel to the strings. His posture is now much straighter. His right hand position for using a pick has improved. His sight-reading and understanding of the order of notes on the music staff has become apparent. He is now playing tracks 2 & 3 with the CD in Hal Leonard's guitar method. He is close to completing Ode to Joy and is working on World Beat. Overall, his sound and timing and use of the pick are enjoyable. He had a 3-day field trip out of state during the week and was still able to make magnificent progress. It is an amazing feat to have accomplished “all this” [sic] in such a short amount of time. I have seen students make small improvements, but never have I been so stunned with a student's motivation, intellect, and technical abilities to improve so greatly—all within one week.” Pam Sato Guitar Instructor

Saturday Workshops The Saturday workshops have also been a big hit with students since making them available every Saturday from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. They are an additional musical activity that NSM offers to our students. Students can register to participate in any workshop by purchasing a spot on the schedule through the Administration Office. Also, if a student misses their individual lesson for any reason, they may register to participate in a workshop at NO CHARGE. Workshops may be attended to offset missing lessons while on vacation as well. Please register with either Ro-Ann or Glenn in the Administration Office.

Do you think your child could use some motivation to practice?

We are now offering The Musical Ladder System. Students will work with their instructor to work their way up the musical ladder system. Their rewards will be different colored wristbands, trophies, and certificates for certain milestones. This new and exciting program is free to all NSM students.
