Based on a True Story - David and Goliath May 21-22, 2016 Community: 1. What is your favorite Bible story? Why? 2. Why do you think that it is important to study old Bible stories about people other than Jesus? Core: 1. Why do you think that the story of David and Goliath is about God and not them? 2. Read Psalm 69 3-21. Has there been a time where you felt like David in this Psalm? Did God “ransom” you? How? 3. Read 1 Samuel 13:14. What do you think it means to have a heart like God? 4. Everyone was disqualifying David from fighting Goliath because of his lack of qualifications and experience. Where has this happened to you? What was your response? 5. Read Malachi 3:6 and Hebrews 13:8. If David knew that God was on his side in a battle that he should not have been able to win, and yet he went in and won, what does that say about who God is? How do you respond knowing that that same God is on your side too? Challenge: What would it look like if you walked around believing that the same God that fought an impossible battle for David is on your side and owns every battle that you face? Write down what would change for you if you believed that, and reflect on that each day until your group meet again.
