They are designed to give you an opportunity to relate your experiences that qualify you to be a Bonner Leader. Typed responses are preferred. Please attach your responses to this sheet.

  1. In prospective Bonner Leaders, we look for committed people who have shown dedication to activities of importance in their lives. BONNER LEADER PROGRAM APPLICATION  RECOMMENDATION LETTER _____________________________ is applying for the Bluefield College Bonner Leaders Program and has asked that you write a letter of recommendation. The Bonner Leaders Program offers financial support to students with substantial financial needs who want to attend college. The program provides them with an opportunity to engage in community service activities while in school. The Bonner Scholars program is designed to identify worthy and qualified students who need financial assistance, enable students to serve others, provide academic support and enrichment activities to students, and encourage students to earn their college degrees. It is important that we learn as much as possible about this candidate’s volunteer service, family responsibilities and/or work experiences. Your help is much appreciated. Dear Bonner Leader Applicant, Thank you for your interest in the Bonner Leader Program. The Bonner Leader Program is based on community service. If you are accepted and choose to be a part of the program you will be required to work anywhere from 300 - 900 hours of community service within a one to a two-year-period, depending on which term of service you select. Your service hours will start accumulating the semester that you are accepted into the program. At the completion of these hours, you will receive an AmeriCorps Educational Award to be used toward educational expenses. If you qualify for the federal work-study program you may also be paid hourly for your community service hours. If you do not qualify for a work-study position, you are still welcome to be a part of the program but you will not be paid an hourly wage. Besides the service hours (an average of 8-10 per week), you will be required to attend weekly meetings as well as participate in group service projects and other group activities.
