THE BUCHLER
FRACTO^MAT linear fraction
collector
FRACTOMAT is one of the most compact fraction collectors available, yet offers features not found in larger units. It provides drop, time and volume (syphon or photoelectric) collection directly into an unlimited number of test tubes. A safety teflon valve prevents stray drops falling between test tubes or loss of sample due to power failure. Adapters available for micro-collection. Industry Items Cary Instruments has opened its first laboratory on the East coast in Fairfield, N. J. The new facility will help chemists with test analyses, sample-handling techniques, and instru ment operation. Dynatech Corp., 17 Tudor St., Cam bridge, Mass., offers a thermal conduc tivity measurement service for testing of most solid materials, especially ce ramics, glasses, plastics, semiconduc tors, and poor conducting materials. Determinations can be made over the temperature range of 30° to 160° C. Greenwood Laboratories, Chadds Ford, Pa., is a newly formed company organized to handle nonroutine and dif ficult analytical problems, especially those related to the determination of organic compounds in chemical and bio logical mixtures. "Customerized Serv ice" involves the use of instrument techniques and competent and expe rienced staff chemists for consultation. Lachat Chemicals, Inc., 20200 Ash land Ave., Chicago Heights, 111. 60411, announces the following new services: lower fatty acid assays by gas chroma tography; capillary gas chromatogra phy analyses; and pyrolysis gas chro matography analyses. Liquid Filter Corp., 22932 Hoover Rd., Warren, Mich. 48089, announces a free contaminant analysis service for chemical processing fluids. The service is designed to aid in the solution of fil tration problems. Mallinckrodt Chemical Works, St. Louis, Mo., has acquired Nuclear Research Chemicals, Inc., of Orlando, Fla. The latter company is a manufac turer of radioactive labeled com pounds; Mallinckrodt makes chemicals for laboratory, industrial, and pharma ceutical purposes. Perkin-Elmer Corp., Norwalk, Conn., and Ultek Corp., Mountainview, Calif., have reached an agreement for the merger of the two companies.
