Character Generator This Windows based system is called CG350 and has 2 channels of graphics output directly fed to the video switcher. Channel 1 is capable of full keyed graphics over live video trough the DSK (Down stream keyer function) in the video switcher. A lower third or credit roll can display over the live program output or as the static full page graphic image display full frame (non-‐keyed) by selecting CG1 on the switcher. CG2 is a non-‐ keyable full frame graphic display selectable by pressing CG2 on the switcher. CG2 is best suited for a full static graphic or a title page or slate and countdown prior to show. CG350 has two programs in one. A Graphic Composer and a Main On Air. In Graphic Composer you can easily create pages from the Page Template tab. Pre-‐set lower thirds and credit roll templates are ready to go simply by entering the names in the pre-‐ selected fields.
Enter the names in the fields for the credit roll template
The credit roll populates with the scrolling names and titles. Templates are the most expedient way of creating pages with preset formatting. Save As each page with a new unique page name. Each saved page will appear in the Project Pages palette to the left of the screen and will appear in the Main On Air window ready and available to drag to the on air window.
The top left window is currently the lower third graphic available on CG1.
Below CG2, a program slate is displayed. Graphics may appear in these windows but may not be feeding out to the switcher unless the Display Previewed Page button is activated. When this displayed the Director and TD can monitor the current graphics on the source monitors in Video Control. The color monitor on the desktop net to the graphics monitor will display what is feeding out to CG1 And CG2. As well as showing what is on program. To feed black on CG1 or CG2, press Page Off. P
