GENERAL APPROVAL – Renewal/Clerical Modification - Rapid Set® Cement All™ Fast Setting, High-Strength, Non-Shrink Grout DETAILS Rapid Set® Cement All™ Fast Setting, High-Strength, Non-Shrink Grout is approved for installing anchor bolts, setting column bases and bearing plates, and similar applications. The approval is subject to the following conditions: 1. The product shall be delivered to construction sites in sealed containers identified by the manufacturer's name and the manufacturer's name and product designation. 2. Grouting procedures shall be in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions and details and specifications as indicated on approved plans by the design engineer. A copy of the installation instructions and this research report shall be available at each job site. 3. Design bearing stress of the grout shall not exceed allowable bearing stress of the concrete supporting the column base or bearing plate. 4. Rapid Set® Cement All™ may be used for installing anchor bolts into hardened concrete in accordance with the 2008 City of Los Angeles Building Code, as governed by strength of existing concrete or applied grout, whichever is less. Exception: The allowable load in shear for the ½" diameter anchor bolts with 4" embedment in 2000 psi concrete shall not exceed 916 pounds. 5. Anchors bolts subject to combined shear and tension loads shall comply to requirements of Section 1905 of the 2008 Los Angeles City Building Code. RR 24654 Page 1 of 2 LADBS G-5 (Rev.6/08)

Continuous inspection by a Los Angeles City registered deputy building inspector shall be provided when the design compressive strength of the grout exceeds 2000 psi at 28 days.

DISCUSSION The clerical modification is to change the name and phone number of the contact person. The report is in compliance with the 2008 City of Los Angeles Building Code. Condition 4 has been revised and Condition 6 has been added to comply with the 2008 City of Los Angeles Building code. The approval is based on compressive strength, tensile, and shear tests. Satisfactory one and two-year compressive strength test results are on file with the Engineering Research Division. Rapid Set® Cement All™ Fast Setting, High-Strength, Non-Shrink Grout contains no calcium chloride. Chemical formula for Rapid Set Non-Shrink Multipurpose Grout, Cement All, and Extra High Strength Mix is on file with the Department. Addressee to whom this Research Report is issued is responsible for providing copies of it, complete with any attachments indicated, to architects, engineers and builders using items approved herein in design or construction which must be approved by Department of Building and Safety Engineers and Inspectors. This general approval of an equivalent alternate to the Code is only valid where an engineer and/or inspector of this Department has determined that all conditions of this approval have been met in the project in which it is to be used.
