From the President’s Office

Greetings to all Credit Union Members. Spring is...ah...springing, as I write this. We’ve had a few nice, warm days and everyone seems to be anxious for warmer weather and green grass. Spring definitely represents a time of change. So, I thought it would be fitting to talk about some of the changes the Credit Union will be making in 2015. In late 2014 we opened our SJU Campus Branch. We have received great response so far. And, we hope to capitalize on this momentum as we move into the 2015/2016 school year at the end of the summer. Currently, we are working on streamlining the member sign up and disclosure process, as this will make it easier and faster for all new members. Our Credit Card program is in full swing. We thank all members who have taken advantage of this program. We continue to work on raising awareness of this program and the low rates we are offering. We are constantly asked whether the Credit Union has an “app” for mobile banking. Well, we will soon. The Credit Union is working on adding Mobile Banking and another related service. We are working through the MN Credit Union Network and Co-Op Financial Services on this initiative. A benefit of the “Co-Op” network is that we will also join their “shared branching” network. Meaning, our Credit Union will be connected to over 7,000 Credit Union Branches in all 50 states. CCCU members will be able to access account services at any of these member Credit Unions (this should benefit many of our “snow bird” members). And, members from other Credit Unions will be able to access these same services at CCCU. This will definitely be an asset for non-CCCU member CSB/SJU Students that can use the Campus Branch to access their existing accounts. In addition, we are working to modernize our current Debit Card program. This will include adding an EMV (Chip) card and allow “real time” access for purchase and withdrawal authorizations. Members who use Online Banking will see authorizations “real time” on their account. We believe that this will also assist in detecting any fraud on Member accounts. These changes show how committed the Credit Union is to keeping pace with the technological advancements in the industry. Yet, we hold on to the traditional, co-operative values that have brought us to where we are. The prospect of having these new tools available for members is very exciting. It means our members will have access to the same services available at larger institutions, with the benefits of the higher “service level” of a smaller institution. As always, we thank you, our members for your support of the Credit Union. Enjoy your Spring!!!!
