COMMUNITY PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH – Danville, CA JOB TITLE Minister of Worship and Arts ABOUT CPC Community Presbyterian Church is a large (approx. 2000 members), strong evangelical congregation in Danville, in the heart of the East Bay area of California. PURPOSE The Minister of Worship & Arts (W&A) provides creative vision and culturally relevant worship leadership for services and events at CPC. JOB DESCRIPTION AND REQUIREMENTS Leadership, collaboration, shepherding, musical expertise, administrative skills and a strong work ethic are necessary. The position requires specific competencies that are pastoral, personal, creative, musical, and technical. Reports to the Senior Pastor. EDUCATION 4 year college degree preferred. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES • Accountable for a worship environment that attracts and engages both unchurched and regular attenders alike, via compelling musical worship that leads to life transformation. • Manage and oversee W&A Staff, including Director of Technical Arts, Assistant Worship Leaders, Worship & Arts Assistant, and support structure. • Lead planning and preparation for all CPC worship services. • Develop and manage W&A budget, operating priorities, and ministry operating plan. • Provide musical and pastoral leadership for the worship team. Accountable for growing worship teams numerically, spiritually, and musically. • Share the Gospel with people of CPC and equip them to share the Gospel with others. • Develop CPC community outreach opportunities through music. • Lead/oversee worship integration for special seasons and special events (i.e. Christmas, conferences, VBS, etc.). SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES • Build and maintain positive and effective relationships with the Pastoral Team, Ministry Leadership Team, CPC employees, and volunteers. • Seek and act upon ways to increase your work effectiveness.

Perform all duties to meet time and program requirements. Be aware of and follow the employee procedures documented in the Human Resource policies and procedures handbook. Be aware of and follow CPC’s personal conduct guidelines.

TALENTS & SKILLS • Creative and visionary with technology – video, lighting, staging, audio, etc. • Able to read music (both bass and treble clef). • Ability to lead worship and sing harmony while playing guitar/keyboard. • Well versed in contemporary music and hymnody. • Able to play main instrument in all kind of styles of Christian music, and to be able to communicate to team members how to achieve each style as needed. • Familiar with all instrument ranges (strings, brass, woodwinds). • Able to read charts (chord charts, numbered charts, lead line charts). • Write parts for various instruments. • Skilled at arranging vocal parts and trained vocalists. • Willing / able to raise up other leaders and feature other musicians. • Creative, current, culturally relevant (to various target audiences) worship leader abilities. • A student of culture with a passion for sharing the gospel through music. • Comfortable in affluent community. EXPERIENCE & COMPETENCE • Experience leading large church worship team for 3-5 years.

Ability to work collaboratively to implement worship vision. Able to teach / grow people as worshippers through up-front role as worship leader, teacher and communicator. Proven ability to build, inspire, and encourage worship teams, worship leaders, as well as volunteer teams charged with various responsibilities. Able to invite / engage congregation into meaningful worship. Great rehearsal techniques, able to “speak” other musician’s language and to hear several parts simultaneously etc.
