Conflict of Interest Aaron Brockett | Matthew 5:13-16
How do I take my faith public?
If you are in a relationship with Jesus, then He expects you to live it and to talk about it.
“I will also make you a light for the Gentiles, that My salvation may reach to the ends of the earth.” Isaiah 49:6 (NIV 2011)
“You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.” Matthew 5:13 (NIV 2011)
Jesus wants a relationship not a religion.
Lose your religion and develop a relationship with Jesus.
Your relationship with Jesus is not determined by your geography or environment.
Now there was a Pharisee, a man named Nicodemus who was a member of the Jewish ruling council. He came to Jesus at night and said, “Rabbi, we know that You are a teacher who has come from God. For no one could perform the signs You are doing if God were not with him.” John 3:1-2 (NIV 2011)
Following Jesus will always cost you something.
Nicodemus, who had gone to Jesus earlier and who was one of their own number, asked, “Does our law condemn a man without first hearing him to find out what he has been doing?” They replied, “Are you from Galilee, too? Look into it, and you will find that a prophet does not come out of Galilee.” John 7:50-52 (NIV 2011)
Your relationship with Jesus is deeply personal, but never private.
“Whoever acknowledges Me before others, I will also acknowledge before My Father in heaven. But whoever disowns Me before others, I will disown before My Father in heaven. Matthew 10:32-33 (NIV 2011)
If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9 (NIV 2011)
But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect. 1 Peter 3:15 (NIV 2011)
“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven. Matthew 5:14-16 (NIV 2011)
Will anyone be in heaven because I allowed God to speak through me?
