weekly focus: neighbors’ international

congregational care

Neighbors International is an all-volunteer ministry of Calvary Church that offers friendship and hospitality to the international college students who are studying at seven of our local colleges and universities.

RECENTLY HOSPITALIZED PRAYER LIST If you have been hospitalized, or anticipate hospitalization, and would like to be added to the prayer list, please call the church office at 956-9377.

If you can answer yes to any of the questions below, and are over 30 years of age, consider becoming a Friendship Family to a couple of international students this year. • Have you been wanting to make a difference in the international community here in Grand Rapids, but have not known how? • Would you love to help a student from an African Country find a winter coat and boots to wear as they experience snow for the first time? • Are you a good baker and want to share that gift in the form of care packages for lonely students during their midterms? • Do you have an open seat at your dinner or holiday table? • Do you love to attend cultural or sporting events and desire to enrich an international student’s life by introducing them to these new experiences? We still have an urgent need for 15 additional Friendship Families; today is the deadline to fill out an application. For more information, or to complete an application, stop at the table in the Gathering Place this morning or contact Sonja ([email protected]) at 340-2568. Short-Term Missions: India and Tanzania Info Meeting An information meeting will take place next Sunday, September 24 following the second service for short-term trips to India and Tanzania. The India trip is January 19–30 to serve the children of that country; the Tanzania trip is scheduled for January 17-29. This team will provide teaching at the Mwanza Bible Institute, as well as a women’s conference. We will discuss administrative information for both trips and then cover details on the trip to India, followed by Tanzania. Plan to join us at 12:15 in room 109 for both trips. Missionary Christmas: Intentional, tangible care for our missionaries is something you can be involved in! Throughout the months of September and October, please give to our annual Missionary Christmas offering. Through your generosity, our missionaries each year receive a love gift with no strings attached to use for whatever they need the most. To donate, indicate Missionary Christmas on your check or on the Giving Envelope and drop it in the offering plate.
