Imagine No Malaria Malaria is a blood-borne disease that is transmitted through the bite of a mosquito. It is the largest killer in the continent of Africa, claiming a life every 60 seconds. However, it is preventable and beatable! Imagine No Malaria is an effort of the people of The United Methodist Church to raise $75 million to eliminate death and suffering from malaria in Africa by 2015. This is a comprehensive approach to beating malaria through prevention, education, communication and treatment. As one of the largest UM churches in the country, Central is helping to take the lead in the fight against malaria by receiving regular offerings on the first Sunday of every month. Our goal is to raise $100,000 over the next two years. We will be starting our regular monthly offerings on Sunday, September 1st. Everyone is encouraged to be generous so we can do our part in defeating malaria in the name of Jesus! For more information, contact Jody Farrell at [email protected] or Connections Women’s Group Fall Study Namesake: When God Rewrites Your Story Namesake is an 8-week Bible study that will explore the transformational power of God through the stories of people in the Bible who met God and whose lives and names were changed forever. The class will meet beginning on Tuesday, September 17th in Wesley 102, 6:30pm-8:30 p.m. Childcare will be provided with a reservation. Workbooks are $13.00. Register online at www.centraltolife.com/women, or contact Susan Meek at [email protected] or 479-442-1818.
