Day Service opportunities for older people from the BME Community
Hartlepool Borough Council are working with Aapna to promote day service opportunities for older people from the Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) community. What is Aapna Services? Aapna services is a registered charity and its aim is to promote social inclusion. It provides and supports BME communities to participate more effectively with the wider community. What does Aapna provide? Aapna will provide day service provision for older people one day a week. Older people will have opportunities to meet and socialise with their friends and peers and take part in activities that encourage a more independent lifestyle. Who is the service available to? The service is available for any adult from BME communities who has any long-term mental health problems or other long-term illness and who have become house bound and/or isolated. The service is also open to any adult who provides help to a relative or friend who is ill, disabled, elderly or in need of emotional support and whose own mental health is affected by providing this support. By taking part individuals will:
Learn new skills to help them cope with caring situations

Develop the confidence to take more control of their lives
