Sunday, December 23 Service of Advent, Carols & Communion 9:30 a.m.

Monday, December 24 Family Christmas Eve Celebration 7:00 PM

Monday, December 24 Traditional Candlelight Christmas Eve 11:00 PM

We celebrate with worship on Sunday morning with Advent, carols, prayers and the Lord’s Supper. Normally on Sundays we offer two worship services, but this week we will combine forces for only one service at 9:30 a.m. Come and join us as we prepare to greet the new-born king.

Children are welcome at all our worship services, but this one is designed with children and families in mind. A more informal service with a Special children’s message and a sermon, plenty of beloved Christmas carols and choir music, ending with Holy Communion and candle lighting.

Join us for this classic Lutheran “Midnight Mass” filled with Christmas carols and choir music, the telling of the Christmas story and Holy Communion, ending after midnight on Christmas Day with the candle lighting ceremony.

The Apostle Paul writes to the Corinthians and to us … “The point is this, The one who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and the one who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each one must do as he/she has made up their mind, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to provide you with every blessing in abundance, so that you may always have enough of everything and may provide in abundance for every good word. As it is written, ‘The Lord will distributed freely; he has given to the poor; his righteousness endures forever.’ (Psalm 112:9) the Lord who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and multiply your resources and increase the harvest of your righteousness. You will be enriched in every way for great generosity, which through us will produce thanksgiving to God; for the rendering of this service not only supplies the wants of the saints but also overflows in many thanksgivings to God. (2 Corinthians 9:6-12) In this season of thanksgiving, I was thinking….do I give thanks because I’ve RECEIVED or because I have the opportunity and joy to SHARE. If it is only because I’ve received, then only those who have… the rich, the healthy...have a reason to give thanks. However, if I give thanks because of the opportunity and joy I have to share, then everyone, even the poorest, the sickest among us, has something for which to give thanks to God, for we all have something to share…whether it is a smile; a kind word; a prayer; our time...these things come from a heart filled up and poured out to another. As we continue to gather in our church, with our wider community and at home with our family, let us continue to ponder this season the many times and ways we have been blessed with the opportunity to SHARE this past year…to share encouragement; to share our time; to share our financial resources; to share our thoughts and our wisdom; to share our faith with the children; to share a quiet moment with our spouse….you add to the list… and the gift from God is that the well of living water we have to share has never run dry. When we think of giving thanks this way, our focus turns from what I’ve gotten to what I’ve given; from me to thee (the “other”) and isn’t that truly how our Lord calls us to live? Think about it. Pray about it. Talk about it. And let us continue to give thanks for the gift and joy of sharing. Blessings in Christ, Pastor Meheret
