Dedication and Blessing Service

Family Ministry June 21, a combined service was held with children, youth and all members in the Life Centre Auditorium.

Dan lead the service and John spoke (dressed in work ‘overalls’) on the topic of the ‘sluggard’ in Proverbs. Two Kidzone children and one youth shared in reading the Bible and leading in prayer. The worship was lead extremely well by Karen Daley and the Youth band. The children and the youth also presented two songs to farewell John and Janelle. One of these songs was written by our Youth Director Emma Ash. The service was not only a wonderful time to join together but also a chance for the church to say thanks and goodbye to John and Janelle. Discipleship

Equip is a new initiative of adult education at St Andrew’s to equip our people to know their faith more deeply, to live it out, and to be able to share it with others. Courses are conducted on Sunday mornings, 9:30-11am. Some courses are from Moore Theological College’s Preliminary Theological Certificate programme and others are on apologetic and areas of Christian living. The first course “Introduction to the Bible” commenced in June and 40 church members enrolled. The instructors are Rev. Alex McCoy, Victor Sun, Derek Ng and Diana Barnett. Our next course will be “Old Testament 1” which is on the first five books in the Bible. Registration begins in August. Do consider joining us!

Chinese Ministry Elderly Ministry launched on May 3, to provide elderly ages over 60s to meet every Sunday, 1:00-3:30pm. An average of 10 - 12 elderly gathered to have Bible Study, prayers and fellowship. During lunch break, it is a wonderful time for the elderly to interact and relax for Chinese Chess, board-games or entertain by a harmonica solo performances a tune or two. Last two months, our elderly have found our ‘Home away from home’. Pastoral

During July and August final preparations will be concluded for us to host St. John’s Counselling services in the “Pastoral Centre”. Counseling sessions should begin in the autumn. We look forward to both St Andrew’s and the wider community benefiting from the service in line with our 2020 Vision. Preparations continue for Stephen ministry training starting this Autumn; July will see a further round of promotion in the congregations. Childrens Ministry

June 28 Crèche and Kidzone enjoyed the End of Year and Thanksgiving party. It was also time to farewell and graduate our 10 year olds as they will be joining Youth after the summer. A big thank you to all our volunteers who have faithfully served for the past 10 months. They are the hero’s of Childrens Ministry! We look forward to welcoming our new volunteers for the Kidzone Summer programme starting on July 12.

We thank and praise God to the new ladies added in our group, it is a blessing to have them. Meeting together weekly is a wonderful opportunity to study the word of God, discussion helps us to understand the topic even better. It gives us encouragement to continue to grow in our daily walk with Christ our Saviour. Birthdays for this month and Father’s day will surely not be missed as it is part of our festive culture. Mission Most of the refugees and asylum seekers in Hong Kong had to travel a long distance to shops to collect their food bags every ten days. Last month, they were allowed to collect food using food coupons which allow them to choose their own food at local supermarkets. This should bring significant improvement in their daily lives. It’s been a long fought campaign by various NGOs and churches including our church in the past few years. To God be the Glory! Donations Welcome St Andrew’s Church depends solely on the sacrificial giving of its members for its daily upkeep and the running of its ministries. Please consider giving regularly to the General Fund by placing a standing order with your bank and joining the Planned Christian Giving scheme. By providing the church with a steady source of income, you will help St Andrew’s to make plans and budget accordingly. More information can be obtained from the website or by calling the church office. Brochures are available at the Hub. www.standrews.org.hk
