Development Assistant Seeking: Optimistic, "can-do" self-starter with a passion for empowering young girls through physical activity. Organization Overview: Girls on the Run of the Bay Area is a nonprofit after-school program serving girls in the 3rd-8th grades in the counties of Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, San Francisco, and San Mateo. Our mission is to inspire girls to be joyful, healthy, and confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum which creatively integrates running. We emphasize serving low and middle-income girls with few alternatives for constructive, educational activities. Girls on the Run is a small organization, with 5 full-time staff and 1 part-time staff. We pride ourselves on being friendly, flexible, efficient multi-taskers. Our office is casual and fun and we are located in San Francisco's Mission District, convenient to BART, several bus lines, and much of the best food the Bay Area has to offer. Though our staff is small, our location in the Women's Building means we are surrounded by other like-minded non-profits. We are very hard-working and our office is fast-paced, but we work to nurture the physical and emotional health of our employees, and encourage the balanced, healthy lifestyle that we teach the girls in our programs. We actively seek candidates who reflect the diversity of our participants and who will be role models for our youth.
