DIPLOMA OF HEALTH CARE QIBT CRICOS code 075186J Duration: Campus: Intakes:
2 semesters (8 months) or 3 semesters (12 months) Gold Coast February, June The Diploma of Health Care is primarily designed to prepare students for entry into the second year of the Bachelor of Nursing at Griffith University and/or basic entry level employment in the health care industry. Students will gain foundational knowledge and metacognitive skills in order to understand the complexities of what it means to be a health care worker in today’s world. Students will learn about core concepts related to the anatomy and physiology of the human body. This knowledge will be augmented through introduction to the bio psychosocial dimensions of clinical health assessment and the theory and practice of health promotion. The discourses explored in these beginning level subjects form the basis for students’ learning of fundamental health care practices which will take place through simulated practice in laboratory settings as well as real-life exposure in health care facilities.
The knowledge and skills gained through completing the Diploma will be directly transferable to work settings oriented to community and aged care and/or to further learning in an academic setting. 2015 Program Fees International Students Australian Citizens/ Permanent Residents
