JOB DESCRIPTION:

Director of Middle School Ministries First Presbyterian Church of Midland, Texas _________________________________________________________________________ Purpose: The Director of Middle School Ministries is a full-time position that will help lead the Church in its efforts to provide and support an effective children’s ministry and specifically the Middle School Ministry. Desired Qualifications:

1. Acceptance and agreement with the vision and goals of the Church as well as the ECO Essential Tenets and Confessional Standards (http://eco-pres.org/essential-tenets/)

2. Bachelor’s degree minimum education level. 3. Minimum 3 years working with youth in a leadership role. 4. Ability to be a self-starter and work both independently and within a youth team ministry environment with common methods and goals.

5. An understanding of youth culture today and the awareness and ability to recognize and adapt to this ever-changing environment. Evaluation: The Director of Middle School Ministries is accountable to and evaluated by the Discipleship Pastor. This evaluation is reviewed by the Personnel Ministry of the Session. Relationships:

1. Serve as a member of christian education in the Church with specific responsibilities to the Middle School Ministry.

2. Serve and provide guidance to families in facilitating a strategy of Christian spiritual growth in students and in their households. Responsibilities: 1. Provide effective spiritual leadership and management. Recruit and develop a team of volunteers to carry out the Family Team Ministry mission: Loving and Leading Families to a Deeper Life in Jesus Christ. 2. Develop and implement ways to involve students in the life and ministry of the congregation. 3. Build and maintain quality relationships with parents. Work to make certain that parents and families have a working understanding of their role in the youth ministry and its strategies towards discipleship. 4. Create and maintain consistent paths for communication and relationship needs with families, the congregation and associated community groups. 5. Provide and organize leadership for Middle School Ministry events. These events may include, but not be limited to, bible studies, small groups, retreats, mission opportunities and youth trips. 6. This position will require travel, including some overnight, in support of Church youth activities.
