The Ramblas flower market – one of the prettiest sections of Barcelonas’s magnificent boulevard

Montjuïc From the Rambles, a quick visit to the Museu de Cera (wax museum) is definitely worthwhile, before arriving at the pMirador de Colom (Monumento a Colom). An overwhelming panoramic view of the city and the old harbour can be enjoyed from the very top of the 60m/200ft Columbus Monument. From there, it is only a few steps along the Rambla del Mar, a wide pontoon bridge, to the Moll d‘Espanya, where the shops and restaurants, as well as the Aquàrium of the Maremàgnum, make for a nice stroll. The nearby aMM Museu Marítim (Maritime Museum) makes an excellent conclusion to this tour. The museum, accommodated in the former royal shipyards, contains spectacular ships and testaments to the country‘s maritime past, including the galley of Don Juan d‘Austria, under whose command the Turkish fleet was defeated in 1571, near Lepanto..

Starting Point: Mirador de Colom Finishing Point: Plaça d'Espanya

Tour 2 Duration: 4 hours.

Montjuïc, one of Barcelona‘s two local mountains, is a popular excursion destination close to the city. The many gardens on top of the hill offer serenity and relaxation from the noise and hectic bustle of the city; numerous spots on the hill provide wonderful views of Barcelona, its harbour and the sea. Yet Montjuïc has even more to offer: the summit is home to the main sporting venues of the 1992 Olympic Games, and those interested in culture will also get their money‘s worth.

From the eMirador de Colom on Plaça del Portal de la Pau (easy to reach with public transport including the metro) walk to the intermediary stop of the Transbordador Aeri (harbour cable car), which
