Big Idea
Galatians 5:22‐23 ‐ But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self‐control.
I can be kind, good, and gentle.
Summary “Kindness, Goodness, Gentleness”
There are many examples of Jesus using the fruits of kindness, goodness, and gentleness. One of those times was on a day when Jesus had sailed across a sea and was met by a large crowd. We’ll see what happens when Jesus meets a sick girl’s father and a group of heartbroken people. Jesus’ actions in this story tell us about three powerful fruits of the spirit. Dear God, we love you. Thank you for this snack. Amen. Do This: Give each Kid‐O some hand sanitizer and a snack. Introductions: Now let’s all go around and say our names!

Know This: There are a lot of different things kids can do to be kind, good, and gentle. Helping others can be a way to do all three! We hope kids will begin to understand the importance of these special fruits that Jesus displayed throughout his time on earth. Help a Friend: Jesus used the fruits of kindness, goodness, and gentleness while he was here on earth, and we can too! One way to do that is by helping others. Helping others is kind because it’s a nice thing to do. Helping others is good because God wants us to do good things for those around us. And helping others can be gentle as long as we are careful and treat people with gentle words and actions. We have a coloring picture with a little boy who looks like he fell and scraped his knee. We are going to help the boy in the picture by giving him a bandage! You can put the bandage on his knee, and then you can color the rest of the picture. Do This: Hand out the coloring sheets and give each kid a bandage. Help them place the bandages on the picture and/or write their names as needed. Lesson Questions: I have some more questions for you.
Who did Jesus heal in today’s Bible Adventure? (A little girl, Jairus’ daughter.) What fruits did we learn about today that Jesus showed when he chose to go with Jairus to see his daughter and heal her? (Kindness, goodness, and gentleness.) What does it mean to be kind, good, and gentle? (We can be kind by showing care and love to others, we can be good by doing what’s right and helping people, and we can be gentle by treating people and things carefully and not being rough or mean.) What are some ways that you could be kind, good, and/or gentle this week? (Ideas: Saying nice words to a friend, giving someone a hug, helping your parents with chores.)

Make sure you get a sticker when you leave, and don’t forget to show it to your grown‐ups! Let’s talk to God one more time before we go. You can repeat this prayer after me if you would like. Dear God, we love you. Thank you for loving us. Help us to be kind, good, and gentle. Amen.
