SPECIAL MEETING Residents of Lakewood Grove Re: Lakewood Grove Proposed Reduction in Speed Limits

Dear Lakewood Grove Residents, For some time there has been discussion about the possibility of lowering the speed limit in Lakewood Grove. The current state approved speed limit for our residential area is 30 mph. According to the Harris County Commissioner’s office, section 545.355 of the Texas Transportation Code allows for the speed limits to be reduced by presenting a petition signed by a majority of the residents (one signature per house). Recently, some residents have advised that they would like to begin a petition drive to request the Harris County Commissioner office to reduce the speed limit to 25 mph. In order to pass, at least 50% of residents must approve this request. If approved, the county will install the 25 mph speed limit signs on each street of the subdivision. It should be noted that currently we have a total of only 3 or 4 signs in the neighborhood. The county requires that new signs be placed on each street in order to enforce speed limits and the sign must be placed within a certain distance after entering the street from both directions. Due to the location requirements, it should be noted that that these new speed limit signs will need to be installed either in front of homes, the lot lines between homes or on light poles if appropriately positioned on the street. This is required by the county. Residents can drive through the side streets of Gettysburg to see examples of the signage that would be required. As this issue will affect all of our residents, the HOA feels it appropriate to hold a special meeting to get everyone’s opinion on this issue. The meeting will be held on or about September 15th. Letters will be sent to residents advising of the final date, time and location. We urge you to attend as this will impact on all of us. We will hold an open forum

Better Safe than Sorry!

Sewing Friends

Constables Corner By Sgt. James Rouse

We have recently experience an increase in home burglaries in the area. The suspect(s) break the master bathroom window and make entry into the residence. The suspect(s) only burglarize the master bedroom, closet and bathroom area. Jewelry is the main item taken. Guns, passports and electronics are also taken. The burglaries have occurred at all hours of the day to homes with and without alarm systems. The suspect(s) are in and out in a matter of minutes. Some of the victims are only away from the residence for a short period of time. Here are some helpful tips • Always set your alarm • Install a “window break” sensor on all windows • Store your valuables somewhere other than the master bedroom • Call the police when suspicious activity is observed This is also the time of year for the garage bandits to steal your yard equipment. Keep your garage doors closed and obtain the serial numbers to your equipment. Don’t forget to keep your vehicle doors locked! And a footnote from the board: LOCK YOUR CAR DOORS! Keep thieves away! Recently some residents had their valuables stolen from their cars. Don't become a victim! factSheet_ad_half.pdf 6/25/2009 2:24:33 PM

Resident Questions: 1. Why were the shrubs cut down on the electrical easements? It is so ugly now. Can we put something back up? Answer: The water district we will soon be mobilizing equipment and receiving materials for North Harris County Regional Water Authority (NHCRWA) Project 6B-3. Starting this week, they will begin installing a waterline along the north side of Faulkey Gully. The waterline will go on the north side of the existing jogging path and will begin at Louetta Road and run west until reaching Flood Control Unit 142-03. Please be advised that construction will be taking place over the next month or so and to use caution when running or biking along the path. The majority of the waterline will be installed without having to close the jogging path but please be advised that full path closures are possible for certain portions of the work. Path closures will be indicated by "Jogging Path Closed" signs and will be placed at the ends of the jogging paths. These closures will be temporary and will be for the safety of the residents. The jogging path will be fully restored upon completion of the waterline. We will also keep you updated on our progress and any changes to our construction plans or traffic control. The Contractor is Kingsley Construction and their number is 281-363-1979 for questions or comments. Malcomson MUD will

be keeping a eye on things as well since we are part owners of the jogging path. HOA Board Members 2. Is it possible to obtain the minutes from the last homeowners meeting? I know they won't be approved until next year's meeting, but could you put the unapproved minutes in a newsletter? I wasn't able to attend and would like to know what was discussed. Answer: The minutes won’t be available until after they are approved.
