2015 Sacrament Meeting Presentation I Know My Savior Lives Primary Children Find their Seats (Prelude music) This year’s Primary theme is ‘I Know That My Savior Lives.’ We have had the opportunity to feel and understand the great love that our Savior, Jesus Christ has for us. In 2010, President Uchtdorf told the following story: During the bombing of a city in World War II, a large statue of Jesus Christ was severely damaged. When the townspeople found the statue among the rubble, they mourned because it had been a symbol of their faith and of God’s presence in their lives. Experts were able to repair most of the statue, but its hands had been broken so badly that they could not be fixed. The people added on the base of the statue of Jesus Christ a sign with these words: “You are my hands.” This year in Primary we have focused on learning to live our lives more like Jesus Christ. To help us become more like Him, He has provided us love and guidance through the scriptures, prophets, and the Holy Ghost. Jesus Christ, as our Savior and Redeemer, has provided us the perfect example. As we have been taught more about His life and His love for us, we have learned that by following His example, we too can be the Savior’s helping hands. Song: I Know That My Savior Loves Me

A long time ago in a beautiful place, Children were gathered ’round Jesus. He blessed and taught as they felt of His love. Each saw the tears on His face. The love that He felt for His little ones I know He feels for me. I did not touch Him or sit on His knee, Yet, Jesus in real to me Chorus I know He lives! I will follow faithfully. My heart I give to Him. I know that my Savior loves me. Now I am here in a beautiful place,

Learning the teachings of Jesus Parents and teachers will help guide the way, Lighting my path ev’ry day. Wrapped in the arms of my Savior’s love, I feel His gentle touch. Living each day, I will follow His way, Home to my Father above. Chorus The first Article of Faith states, “We believe in God, the Eternal Father, and in His Son, Jesus Christ, and in the Holy Ghost.” We are Heavenly Father’s children. Jesus Christ is our Savior and Redeemer. We know that they love everyone. Song: I Am a Child of God (Acapella, first verse)

Jesus loves (insert name) Jesus loves (name) Jesus loves (name) Jesus loves (name) Jesus loves (name) Jesus loves (name) Jesus loves (name) I am a child of God, And he has sent me here, Has given me an earthly home With parents kind and dear. Chorus Lead me, guide me, walk beside me, Help me find the way. Teach me all that I must do To live with him someday. In John 3:16 in states “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” Jesus Christ atoned so that all mankind may be saved. The atonement can be applied to me personally when I make a mistake or need assistance.

After Christ atoned for our sins, he died and was resurrected. Because he was resurrected, I too will be resurrected someday. Song: He Sent His Son

How could the Father tell the world of love and tenderness? He sent his Son, a newborn babe, with peace and holiness. How could the Father show the world the pathway we should go? He sent his Son to walk with men on earth, that we may know. How could the Father tell the world of sacrifice, of death? He sent his Son to die for us and rise with living breath. What does the Father ask of us? What do the scriptures say? Have faith, have hope, live like his Son, help others on their way. What does he ask? Live like his Son. Jesus Christ is the Son of God, and He Is a God of Miracles. We read in 2 Nephi 27:23, “For behold, I am God; and I am a God of miracles; and I will show unto the world that I am the same yesterday, today, and forever; and I work not among the children of men save it be according to their faith.” Jesus Christ can heal the sick Give a brief talk (1-2 minutes) about some of the miracles Jesus Christ performed while he was on the earth. (healing the sick, raising the dead, etc.) Jesus Christ has power over death. Miracles come to those who have faith. In Doctrine and Covenants 63:9 we read, “But, behold, faith cometh not by signs, but signs follow those that believe.” Miracles are not always dramatic events. When we first have faith, we will recognize miracles in our own lives. Even though we have faith we will still sometimes experience sorrow, pain and suffering, but God is aware of our needs and will care for us.

Share an experience of faith and miracles in your life: _________________________________ Song: Tell Me the Stories of Jesus

Tell me the stories of Jesus I love to hear, Things I would ask him to tell me if he were here. Scenes by the wayside, tales of the sea, Stories of Jesus, tell them to me. Oh, let me hear how the children stood round his knee. I shall imagine his blessings resting on me; Words full of kindness, deeds full of grace, All in the love-light of Jesus' face. Tell me, in accents of wonder, how rolled the sea, Tossing the boat in a tempest on Galilee! And how the Master, ready and kind, Chided the billows and hushed the wind. God speaks through Prophets, they are called to testify of Christ. We read in Luke 1:70, “As he spake by the mouth of his holy prophets, which have been since the world began.” Prophets have lived upon the earth since the earth was created. Each prophet is called of God and testifies of Jesus Christ. In the Old Testament Daniel taught us to be loyal to the Lord and faithful in keeping His commandments. In the New Testament Peter showed great courage by obeying the Savior when he asked him to walk on water. In the Book of Mormon Lehi and his family showed faith by crossing great waters to the Promised Land. In the early days of the church Brigham Young was a prophet of perseverance. In the latter-days Gordon B. Hinckley brought forth temples in abundance and opened doors throughout the world for all to hear the gospel of Jesus Christ. President Thomas S. Monson is the living prophet on the earth today. When we follow his words we are following the Savior. By following the prophets we can find safety and draw closer to Christ.

Song: Follow the Prophet (verses 1, 7 and 9)

Adam was a prophet, first one that we know. In a place called Eden, he helped things to grow. Adam served the Lord by following his ways. We are his descendants in the latter days. Chorus Follow the prophet, follow the prophet, Follow the prophet; don't go astray. Follow the prophet, follow the prophet, Follow the prophet; he knows the way. Jonah was a prophet, tried to run away, But he later learned to listen and obey. When we really try, the Lord won't let us fail: That's what Jonah learned deep down inside the whale. Chorus Now we have a world where people are confused. If you don't believe it, go and watch the news. We can get direction all along our way, If we heed the prophets-follow what they say. Chorus Joseph Smith was another important prophet. Jesus Christ restored the Fullness of the Gospel through him. When Christ was on the earth he established His church. Not long after He died, His gospel was taken from the earth, which was known as the apostasy. During this time of spiritual darkness, the knowledge of the true character and nature of Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ was lost. This apostasy led to the creation of many churches. As a boy, Joseph Smith wondered which church he should join. He read in the Bible, in James 1:5 “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask God.” After reading this, Joseph Smith prayed in the Sacred Grove to ask which church was true. In a miraculous way, Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ appeared to Joseph Smith.

They told him that he should join none of the churches on the earth at that time. The fullness of the gospel was later restored through Joseph Smith. Today Christ’s church is known as The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Song: The Church of Jesus Christ

I belong to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I know who I am. I know God's plan. I'll follow him in faith. I believe in the Savior, Jesus Christ. I'll honor his name. I'll do what is right; I'll follow his light. His truth I will proclaim. As members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, we know that the principles and ordinances of the Gospel lead us to Jesus Christ. The 4th Article of Faith states, “We believe that the first principles and ordinances of the Gospel are: first, Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ; second, Repentance; third, Baptism by immersion for the remission of sins; fourth, Laying on of hands for the gift of the Holy Ghost.” We can learn about faith in the book of Hebrews in the Old Testament. Chapter 11 verse 1 states, “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” My faith in Jesus Christ is strengthened when I obey. Because of Jesus Christ, when we do something wrong we can repent. Repentance includes: feeling sorry, asking for forgiveness, making things right, and not repeating the wrong thing we’ve done. By being baptized, Christ provided a great example for us to follow. When we are baptized, we make a covenant with our Heavenly Father. I can remember the covenants I have made, when I think of a Kit Kat bar. K: Keep the commandments, A: always remember Him, and T: take His name upon me.

After we are baptized we receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. The gift of the Holy Ghost is the right to the constant companionship of the Holy Ghost. The Holy Ghost speaks to us in a still, small voice. He can guide and protect us. We can feel Him in our heart. We can hear Him in our mind. Share a personal experience where you have been comforted or guided by the Holy Ghost…

By the power of the Holy Ghost we may know the truth of all things.

Song: Teach Me To Walk

Teach me to walk in the light of his love; Teach me to pray to my Father above; Teach me to know of the things that are right; Teach me, teach me to walk in the light. Come, little child, and together we'll learn Of his commandments, that we may return Home to his presence, to live in his sight-Always, always to walk in the light. Father in Heaven, we thank thee this day For loving guidance to show us the way. Grateful, we praise thee with songs of delight! Gladly, gladly we'll walk in the light. When Christ was on the earth he always obeyed Heavenly Father. We read in Acts 10:38, “He went about doing good, for God was with him” The Savior was always found blessing the lives of other people. This can be found in stories throughout the scriptures. Jesus fed 5,000 people with 5 loaves of bread and two small fish. He taught us love & service by washing His disciple’s feet.

He blessed the children, healed the sick, cared for the poor, and served all those He met. This year in Primary we have all worked hard to serve others each day. Each week we have had the opportunity to share some of the ways we have serve as His hands. This jar is filled with examples of how our Primary has served others. We have learned that by following Christ’s example, we can be His hands here on earth. I can act as Christ’s hands in my family by _______________________

Song: I’m Trying to be Like Jesus

I'm trying to be like Jesus; I'm following in his ways. I'm trying to love as he did, in all that I do and say. At times I am tempted to make a wrong choice, But I try to listen as the still small voice whispers, Chorus "Love one another as Jesus loves you. Try to show kindness in all that you do. Be gentle and loving in deed and in thought, For these are the things Jesus taught." I'm trying to love my neighbor; I'm learning to serve my friends.

I watch for the day of gladness when Jesus will come again. I try to remember the lessons he taught. Then the Holy Spirit enters into my thoughts, saying: Chorus President Uchtdorf said, “When I think of the Savior, I often picture Him with hands outstretched, reaching out to comfort, heal, bless, and love. He loved the humble and the meek and walked among them, ministering to them and offering hope and salvation. This is what He would be doing if He were living among us today. It is what we should be doing as His disciples and members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.” President Uchtdorf continued, “As we extend our hands and hearts toward others in Christlike love, something wonderful happens to us. Our own spirits grow stronger. We become happier, more peaceful, and more open to the whisperings of the Holy Spirit.” Let us commit to become as the Savior’s hands, that others may feel His loving embrace through our loving actions. Sunbeams all together

We are His Hands!

Song: Children Holding Hands

There are children singing all around the world, Happy voices ringing out the joyful word: We are children glowing with the gospel light, Standing tall, walking strong, choosing right. There are children leading out in ev’ry land Who believe in keeping all the Lord’s commands. Like the stripling warriors, we go forth in faith, For we know that the Lord is our strength. Chorus We are children holding hands around the world, Like an army with the gospel flag unfurled. We are led by His light, And we love truth and right. We are building the kingdom of God. There are children sharing all around the world, Leading other children to the gospel fold. With the strength of youth, we do the Father’s work. With our hearts and our hands we will serve.

We are cov’nant children with a gift to give. We will teach the gospel by the way we live. With each word and action, we will testify: We believe, and we serve Jesus Christ. Chorus Closing Hymn: Come Follow Me
