SUNDAY SCHOOL PROSPECT CARD To help us with Sunday School outreach, we are asking if you know someone who is attending worship but not enrolled in Sunday School, to fill out a prospect card for them. We are striving to connect people who are worshipping with us to become part of a Sunday School class where they can experience encouragement, growth and accountability. Cards are available at the Welcome Center.

FROM THE PASTOR Praise the Lord! On Sunday the church overwhelmingly voted to extend the call to Brad Boucher as our Minister of Students. I ask that you covet to pray for Brad, Tracy, Braydon and Braylee as they step out in faith and pursue the Lord’s will. Brad has done a remarkable job over the last two years given his limited time. I am so excited to see how God can use him as he dedicates himself to the position full time. Please remember that on Wednesday, August 5, in our monthly business meeting, we will consider the 2015-2016 Nominating Committee Report as well as our 2015-2016 Budget. I hope that you will make it a priority to be present and involved in this important night. Finally, let me share with you a word of challenge concerning Sunday School. Mark Miller, Sunday School Specialist with the Tennessee Baptist Convention, has been evaluating our church for the last three months and has helped me grasp the challenges we are facing regarding Sunday School. Due to the lack of permanent direction over the past 2 years, our Sunday School had lost the focus and attention it needs. The result has been a gradual slide in attendance. While that is seen on paper the real challenge of this reality is understanding that people are not connecting on a smaller level and in turn care is not provided. I want to challenge you to make Sunday School a priority this coming church year. A church should typically average in Sunday School 80% of its worship attendance. We currently are averaging 65%. The good news is that this can be fixed through commitment and work. So I am asking you to join me in doing three things to help connect those in worship to a small group Sunday School class. 1. If you are attending worship services but not attending a class, commit to visit a class on Sunday August 9 (Connection Sunday). 2. If you know someone who is a regular worshipper but not connected to a class, pick up a prospect card from the Welcome Center. Fill it out and return so that we can follow up with those individuals through a personal invite. 3. Finally, commit to ask 2 questions of every person you talk to at Second Baptist. First, “How long have you been attending Second Baptist Church?” Second, “Have you gotten connected to a Sunday School Class yet?” Sunday School is foundational to the life and health of our church. Let’s commit to live out this foundational priority over the coming months. God Bless you and I can’t wait to learn and worship with you on Sunday. For His Glory, Pastor Justin
