Bible Study Lessons (part #2) 1. Seal of Yahuwah

Go to Part #2 Lessons Index Go To Quiz (offline/online)

A "seal" is arguably the most important part of a legal document. Without the seal, the words on the paper would be, well, just words on paper. They would have no power. With a seal attached, however, the words become law. The seal carries the full weight of authority and power which belongs to the monarch or person which owns the seal. All seals contain three elements. Without these, a seal could not function; it would not represent the monarch it is supposed to symbolize. These three key elements are: 1. The name of the law giver; 2. The title of the law giver; 3. The authority of the law giver; the dominion over which he rules.

A seal is typically cast at the beginning of a sovereign's reign. If the seal becomes too worn through use, a new one is made and the old seal is defaced so that it can no longer be used to seal legal decrees. Great care is taken to protect the official seal. Without it, nothing (including a signature) is official. But with it, a mere piece of paper becomes a powerful decree, carrying the full weight of the king. The Monarch of the Universe also has a seal. This seal, like the seals of earthly monarchs, is When Queen Elizabeth II granted permission for her grandson, Prince found in His law. In fact, it is part of His law. William, to marry Catherine Middleton, she signed a Notice of Approval. At the bottom of the document, attached by gold braiding, is a large, red wax The divine law that is to govern all intelligent Great Seal of the Realm. beings in the universe is the Ten Commandment Law. The first four commandments cover man's responsibility to his Maker; the last six govern man's actions toward his fellow man. Of all the commandments, only the fourth commandment contains the name, title and authority of the great Lawgiver. Remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: But the seventh day is the Sabbath of Yahuwah thy Elohim: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: For in six days Yahuwah made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore Yahuwah blessed the Sabbath day, and hallowed it. (See Exodus 20:8-11.)

Thus, the fourth commandment is itself the seal of Yahuwah because it contains the three elements necessary for all seals - plus one - it also has a DATE!    

NAME: Yahuwah TITLE: Elohim AUTHORITY & DOMINION: Heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is DATE: Day 7 - that was the date on Earth - right after Creation.

The fact that the Sabbath itself is the seal of Yahuwah is very significant. Of all the commandments, the fourth commandment is the most unpopular. Satan knows that it contains the seal of the Most High. Using various reasoning, he has done his utmost to lead people to break or otherwise ignore this important commandment. Two of the most common reasons why people break the fourth commandment are: 

"Jesus was resurrected on Sunday, so we should worship on that day in honor of the resurrection." (This reason ignores the fact that all the apostles and all early Christians kept the seventh-day Sabbath for centuries after the resurrection and ascension of the Saviour.) "The Sabbath was 'nailed to the cross' and is no longer binding." (This logic is inconsistent by admitting that all the other nine commandments are still binding.)

The fact is, the fourth commandment is, as it has always been, the seal of the Creator. Yahuwah does not change. He says of Himself: "I am Yahuwah, I change not." (See Malachi 3:6.) It would be far more consistent for earthly monarchs to change their own laws then for the Changeless One to set aside His own perfect law. Some who worship on Saturday, reject the lunar Sabbath because: "All God requires is that you worship on the seventh day of whatever calendar society is using." This reasoning is also inconsistent because if it is important to worship on a specific day (the seventh) than it is important that the calendar one uses to count to the seventh day is the Biblical calendar. As Yahuwah's official seal, the Sabbath has three functions: 1) It protects; 2) It strengthens; 3) It is a sign of loyalty. A Seal Protects When something is sealed, it protects that which has been sealed. A woman who cans food has protected the food in the jar, when she processes the jars in boiling water so that the lids seal tightly. When Herod sealed Yahushua's tomb, it was supposedly for the purpose of protecting the body of the Saviour so that His disciples could not come, steal His body and claim He had been resurrected. Anything that is under a seal is thus protected. Those who honor their Creator by worshipping Him on His holy Sabbath are also under His protection. This divine protection is very real. It is extended to all who keep the Sabbath day holy. Satan is very aware that all who worship on the true Sabbath are under the protection of this divine seal. He hates this fact! When he was accusing Job of serving Yahuwah for selfish

purposes, Satan complained, "Doth Job fear . . . [Elohim] for not? Hast not thou made an hedge about him, and about his house, and about all that he hath on every side?" (Job 1:9, 10, KJV) The holy law provides a hedge, a wall of protection around all who obey that law. Those who live in obedience are under the seal of Yahuwah and are thus under His direct protection. A Seal Strengthens

A seal is made from wax. Wax is melted and the metal mold is pressed into the malleable wax. As the wax receives the impress of the seal, it hardens. The hardened wax seal is a perfect mirror-reflection of the metal seal that formed it. All who receive the seal of Yahuwah in their minds, like the wax, receive the divine impress. This is what is prophesied in Jeremiah 31:33: This shall be the covenant [promise] that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith Yahuwah, I will put My law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their Elohim, and they shall be My people. And they shall teach no more every man his neighbor, and every man his brother, saying, Know Yahuwah: for they shall all know Me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith Yahuwah: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more. (See Jeremiah 31:33, 34.) When Yahuwah's seal is applied to the mind and soul of the repentant sinner, a new creature is formed. The mind becomes renewed; it becomes one with the divine mind. The thoughts, emotions, motives and desires now reflect the lovely image of the Creator. Because Yahuwah's law is a perfect transcript of His character, all who are sealed by Yahuwah are gifted with His loveliness of character. The weak, vacillating man becomes strong through faith in His redeemer. The angry, spiteful woman becomes meek and gentle through the transformation of her mind as she claims by faith the righteousness of Yahushua. Now He who establishes us with you in Yahushua and has anointed us is Yahuwah, who also has sealed us and given us the Spirit in our hearts as a deposit. (See 2 Corinthians 1:21-22, emphasis supplied.) The power of Yahuwah seals (keeps, preserves, safeguards) all who have entrusted themselves into His care and keeping.

The sealing is a pledge from . . . [Yahuwah] of perfect security to His chosen ones. Sealing indicates you are . . . [Yahuwah’s] chosen. He has appropriated you to Himself. As the sealed of . . . [Yahuwah] we are . . . [Yahushua's] purchased possession, and no one shall pluck us out of His hands. 1 Sign of Loyalty The Sabbath, which contains the seal of Yahuwah, is ultimately a sign of loyalty. It differentiates between those who serve Yahuwah and those who do not. Rebellion and disobedience to the divine law has always been the mark of Satan's kingdom. On the other hand, loyalty to the divine law is a sign that distinguishes the subjects of Heaven. Yahushua clearly explained that real proof of love for Yahuwah was found in the heart-response to His law: "If you love Me, you will keep My commandments." (John 14:15) Yahuwah's people, as subjects of Heaven, love the Law Giver. Thus, they obey the great Law of Love. Worship on the true Sabbath is their pledge of allegiance to their Creator. Scripture even states that the Sabbath was given to be a sign between Yahuwah and His people. Surely My Sabbaths you shall keep, for it is a sign between Me and you throughout your generations, that you may know that I am . . . [Yahuwah] who sanctifies you." (Exodus 31:13) All who are saved in the end, will have been sealed with the seal of the living Elohim. Revelation foretells: After these things I saw four angels standing upon the four corners of the earth, holding the four winds of the earth, that the wind should not blow on the earth, on the sea, or on any tree. Then I saw another angel ascending from the east, having the seal of the living . . . [Elohim]. And he cried with a loud voice to the four angels to whom it was granted to harm the earth and the sea, saying, "Do not harm the earth, the sea, or the trees till we have sealed the servants of our . . . [Elohim] on their foreheads." (Revelation 7:1-3, NKJV) This is one of the last things accomplished before the very end. It has its counterpart in the Old Testament prophecy of Ezekiel: Then He called out in my hearing with a loud voice, saying, "Let those who have charge over the city draw near, each with a deadly weapon in his hand." And suddenly six men came from the direction of the upper gate . . . each with his battle-ax in his hand. One man among them was clothed with linen and had a writer's inkhorn at his side.

. . . And He called to the man clothed with linen, who had the writer's inkhorn at his side; and . . . [Yahuwah] said to him, "Go through the midst of the city, through the midst of Jerusalem, and put a mark on the foreheads of the men who sigh and cry over all the abominations that are done within it." To the others He said in my hearing, "Go after him through the city and kill; do not let your eye spare, nor have any pity. Utterly slay old and young men, maidens and little children and women; but do not come near anyone on whom is the mark; and begin at My sanctuary." So they began with the elders who were before the temple. (Ezekiel 9:1-6, NKJV) The seven last plagues fall upon all who have not received the seal of Yahuwah. The divine seal covers all who have repented and returned to the worship of the Creator on His holy Sabbath day. They have received His seal in their foreheads through obedience to His law. Thus, they are preserved and kept safe through the seven last plagues. He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty . . . A thousand may fall at your side, and ten thousand at your right hand; but it shall not come near you. Only with your eyes shall you look, and see the reward of the wicked. Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him; I will set him on high, because he has known My name. He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honor him. (Psalm 91:1, 7-8, 14, 15) Join with the loyal in heaven and on earth. Show your loyalty to your Maker. Worship on the true seventhday Sabbath and receive the seal of Yahuwah.

Bible Study Lessons (part #2) 2. When Does a Day Begin?

Go to Part #2 Lessons Index Go To Quiz (offline/online)

The King James Version (KJV) is mostly used in these lessons. Click here to access the KJV online.

Throughout history, different cultures have begun their "day" at different times. The ancient Greeks began their "day" at sunset; the ancient Egyptians at sunrise. The Romans began their day at midnight and this practice has carried over to modern times. Jews and many others who worship on the seventh-day Sabbath, begin Sabbath at sunset of the day before. A careful study of Scripture reveals when the day really begins, and it is neither sunset nor sunrise, midnight nor noon. Creation week began when the Creator said: "Let there be light." And there was light! The first day of Creation week began with the coming of light. Genesis 1:2 reveals that before the Creator spoke light into existence, "darkness was on the face of the deep." This is the first evidence that the day begins with the coming of light, or dawn. Because darkness was present in this area of space for eons before the Creator called light into existence here, the first day of Creation week began only when light came. Yahuwah did not declare: "Day One is now beginning" and, after sitting around in the dark for 12 hours, then declare "Let there be light!" Nor did He make the last 12 hours before He created light to be part of the first day retroactively. Satan has confused minds by a phrase repeated in Genesis 1. Many believe that this phrase, repeated at the end of every day, is proof that the day begins at sunset: "And the evening and the morning were the first day . . . And the evening and the morning were the second day . . . And the evening and the morning were the third day . . . ." (See Genesis 1:5, 8, 13, 19, 23, 31.) This does not prove that the day begins at sunset. Rather, after the day began at dawn, the evening came, and then another morning (the second day) arrived. One full "24 hour period" was complete with the dawning of the next day. Genesis 1:4 and 5 provides further definition of what constitutes the "day": And Elohim saw the light, that it was good: and Elohim divided the light from the darkness. And Elohim called the light Day, and the darkness He called Night.

The Creator Himself designated that light is called Day; darkness is called Night. It is a principle of Scripture that what Yahuwah has joined, no one is to separate. By extension, what Yahuwah has separated, let no one presume to join. Satan has done this very thing by bringing in confusion over when the day begins. Just as Light symbolizes the kingdom of Heaven, Darkness symbolizes Satan's kingdom. By confusing minds over the issue of when a day begins, Satan has effectively begun his "sabbath" (Saturday on the papal/pagan calendar) with the coming of darkness, thus claiming ownership of that "day." When Moses wrote the book of Genesis, he did not lack the word "night." He used it repeatedly in Genesis 1! If the day began at night (midnight or sunset), Moses would not have written that the evening and the morning were all part of the day. Dawn and dusk, morning and evening, are the transition times between Night and Day. As such, they are counted as part of the daytime hours. Yahuwah created the sun to "rule the day" (Genesis 1:16). Thus, the day begins with the coming of light. Near the equator, this can be very near sunrise. Places far north or far south of the equator, however, can get light more than an hour before sunrise and stay light long after sunset. All the time when it is light enough for the sun to be "ruling" is part of the day. When it comes to Sabbath observance, these transition periods are to be guarded carefully for they are the "edges of the Sabbath." In Bible times, mechanical clocks were not available. The only means for keeping track of time that was available was the sundial. "Days" were divided up into 12 equal parts, or hours. Because these hours were reflective of the sun's movements, hours were longer in the summer and shorter in the winter. Yahushua used this as an illustration in one of His lessons. He asked: Are there not twelve hours in the day? If any man walk in the day, he stumbleth not, because he seeth the light of this world. But if a man walk in the night, he stumbleth, because there is no light in him. (John 11:9, 10, KJV) Although the Saviour's enemies were continually quibbling and arguing over His words, no one argued with His claim that there were only "twelve hours in the day." This method of reckoning time is seen in the parable of the man who hired laborers for his vineyard. A man . . . went out early in the morning to hire labourers into his vineyard. . . . And he went out about the third hour . . . and said unto them; Go ye also into the vineyard . . . Again he went out about the sixth and

ninth hour, and did likewise. And about the eleventh hour he went out, and found others . . . He saith unto them, Go ye also into the vineyard; and whatsoever is right, that shall ye receive. (See Matthew 20:1-16.) It is clear that the "eleventh hour" workers were hired only an hour before the work day was over. When the owner generously paid the eleventh hour workers the same amount as those who had worked all day long, the men hired early in the morning complained: These last have wrought but one hour, and thou has made them equal unto us, which have borne the burden and heat of the day. (Matthew 20:12) The night hours were divided into first three and later (under Roman supremacy) four "watches." These night hours belonged to the day preceding them, not the day that followed. Evidence for each 24 hour period beginning at dawn can be seen in the account of Lot and his daughters. After the destruction of the cities of the plain, Lot's daughters assumed that the whole earth had been destroyed. And the firstborn said unto the younger, Our father is old, and there is not a man in the earth to come in unto us . . . Come, let us make our father drink wine, and we will lie with him, that we may preserve seed of our father. And they made their father drink wine that night: and the firstborn went in and lay with her father; and he perceived not when she lay down, nor when she arose. And it came to pass on the morrow, that the firstborn said unto the younger, Behold I lay yesternight with my father: let us make him drink wine this night also; and go thou in, and lie with him . . . . (See Gensis 19:30-38.) If the "day" began at sunset, then this account does not make sense. Instead, it would have to say that they made their father drink wine the next night. Then, the next day when the firstborn spoke to her younger sister, she would have had to have said, "I lay tonight with my father: let us make him drink wine tomorrow night also." However, that is not what she said. Because a new day begins with dawn, the night belongs to the day that goes before it, not that comes after it. Therefore, "yesternight" belongs toyesterday. The Biblical account of the Passover and Exodus from Egypt also contains compelling evidence for the day beginning at dawn. If the day truly began at sunset, the time details as given in Exodus 12 and other passages are impossible to all be true. The traditional understanding of the Passover and Exodus is to assume that since the "day" begins at sunset, the Israelites killed the lamb just after sunset - the sunset beginning the "day" of the 14th. They then roasted the lamb, ate it, and sometime during the night the Egyptians came and told them to get out, which they did before dawn of the next day (the 15th). However, when all the facts presented in Scripture are carefully brought together, a very different picture

emerges. Exodus 12 opens with Yahuwah explaining to Moses how the Israelites were to keep the Passover and the Feast of Unleavened Bread which followed. On the tenth day of the month, they were to select a lamb. And ye shall keep it up until the fourteenth day of the same month: and the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel shall kill it in the evening. . . . And they shall eat the flesh in that night, roast with fire, and unleavened bread; . . . And ye shall let nothing of it remain until the morning; and that which remaineth of it until the morning ye shall burn with fire. (Exodus 12:6, 8, 10, KJV) This solemn observance was called the Passover for a specific reason: ye shall eat it in haste: it is Yahuwah's passover. For I will pass through the land of Egypt this night, and will smite all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and against all the eloah of Egypt I will execute judgment: I am Yahuwah. (See Exodus 12: 11, 12.) Right here is the first evidence that the day begins at dawn. Scripture provides three important details about the Exodus. 1. It occurred at night; 2. It took place on the 15th of the month. 3. It suggests that there was a FULL MOON at that time – the MIDDLE of the month. Deuteronomy 16:1 - "Observe the month of Abib, and keep the passover unto . . . [Yahuwah thy Elohim]; for in the month of Abib . . . [Yahuwah thy Elohim] brought thee forth out of Egypt by night. Numbers 33:3 - "And they departed from Rameses in the first month, on the fifteenth day of the first month; on the morrow after the passover the children of Israel went out with an high hand in the sight of all the Egyptians." In addition to the date and time, here, special attention must also be given to the words “in the sight of all the Egyptians" as this suggests that there was a bright FULL MOON at that time – the MIDDLE of the month. When these facts are factored in, it becomes very apparent that the day has to begin at dawn. If the day began at sunset, then Yahuwah did not "pass over" the Israelites on the Passover at all - but on the 15th! Furthermore, when Moses was relaying Yahuwah's instructions to the Israelites, he emphasized a very important point: none of you shall go out at the door of his house until the morning. For . . . [Yahuwah] will pass through to smite the Egyptians; and when he seeth the blood upon the lintel, and on the two side posts, . . . [Yahuwah] will pass over the door, and will not suffer the destroyer to come in unto your houses to smite you. (Exodus 12:22, 23, KJV)

It was forbidden for any Israelite to step outside the door of his house until morning. If he did, the divine protection would be withdrawn. No Israelite would have dared disobey the command of Yahuwah to stay in their homes until morning. This alone makes it impossible for them to have left the same night as the Passover was eaten. The Passover took place on the night of the 14th - the night following the day of the 14th. And it shall come to pass, when your children shall say unto you, What mean ye by this service? That ye shall say, It is the sacrifice of . . . [Yahuwah's] passover, who passed over the houses of the children of Israel in Egypt, when he smote the Egyptians, and delivered our houses . . . And it came to pass, that at midnight . . . [Yahuwah] smote all the firstborn in the land of Egypt . . . And Pharaoh rose up in the night, he, and all his servants, and all the Egyptians; and there was a great cry in Egypt; for there was not a house where there was not one dead. And he called for Moses and Aaron by night, and said, Rise up, and get you forth from among my people . . . . (Exodus 12:26, 27, 29-31, KJV) Pharaoh may have sent messengers to call for Moses and Aaron, but they did not disobey their divine Deliverer to obey their oppressor. They were delivered! What was the rush? They, and all Israel, obeyed the divine command to stay in their houses until morning. The next day, the 15th, was the seventh-day Sabbath. Again, the people remained where they were. These were the holy hours of the Sabbath. Yahuwah does not break His own laws, and He would not lead a millionplus people, along with their flocks and herds, out of Egypt on the Sabbath. They rested that day - something that greatly bothered the Egyptians. And the Egyptians were urgent upon the people, that they might send them out of the land in haste; for they said, We be all dead men. (Exodus 12:33, KJV) That night, after the holy hours of the Sabbath had passed, on the night of the 15th, in accordance with the details given in Deuteronomy 16 and Numbers 33, Moses led the people out. Only if the day begins at dawn can all of these details be fulfilled, along with the command to remain in their homes until morning. The practice of beginning the Sabbath at sunset came about after the Babylonian exile, possibly under Greek influence since the Greeks began their day at sunset. The intra-Testament time period (between the Old and the New Testaments) was a time of intense persecution of the Israelite faithful. Because the law of Moses established that the observance of Day of Atonement also began the evening before (see Leviticus 23:26-32), it would be a simple thing for those who wished to compromise to simply "extend" the observation of the Sabbath backward to the sunset of the sixth day. Furthermore, the Babylonian captivity finally cured the Israelites of idolatry. Before the Babylonian captivity, they frequently worshipped false deities. Seventy years of captivity in a foreign land forcibly impressed on them that their national security and temporal prosperity were inseparably bound up with keeping Yahuwah's law.

It was at this time that the sect of the Pharisees arose. Their entire purpose was to make it impossible to break the law of Yahuwah. They attempted to achieve national security by legislating righteousness. The "traditions of the elders" from which the Saviour sought to free the people were nothing more than a very long list of rules which, if scrupulously obeyed, would make it impossible to break the law - or so they thought. Yahushua said the Pharisees "bind heavy burdens and grievous to be borne, and lay them on men's shoulders." (Matthew 23:4, KJV) It was under the influence of the Pharisees that the Israelites began to observe the Sabbath beginning at sunset of the preceding day. Historical evidence indicates that the Israelites living around Jerusalem during the Saviour's time kept the Sabbath from sunset, while the Israelites living in Galilee, further away from the Pharisaical influence, were still keeping the Sabbath beginning at dawn. The gospel account of the crucifixion provides time details that only fit if the day begins at dawn. Death by crucifixion was a lengthy process that typically took several days. Yahushua, as the Lamb of Yah that takes away the sins of the world, was crucified on the day of Passover, the 14th of Abib. He died at the time of the evening sacrifice. The next day was not only the seventh-day Sabbath, but also the first day of Feast of Unleavened Bread, a "High Sabbath." The Jews therefore, because it was the preparation, that the bodies should not remain upon the cross on the Sabbath day, (for that Sabbath day was an high day,) besought Pilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away. Then came the soldiers, and brake the legs of the first, and of the other which was crucified with him. But when they came to . . . [Yahushua], and saw that he was dead already, they brake not his legs. (John 19:31-33, KJV) The purpose of breaking the legs was to hasten death so they could be buried before the Sabbath. Yahushua's legs were not broken as He was already dead. (He died about the "ninth hour" - the midafternoon time of the evening sacrifice). "Now when evening had come, there came a rich man from Arimathea, named Joseph, who himself had also become a disciple of . . . [Yahushua]. This man went to Pilate and asked for the body of . . . [Yahushua]. Then Pilate commanded the body to be given to him. And when Joseph had taken the body, he wrapped it in a clean linen cloth, and laid it in his new tomb, and departed." (Matthew 27:57-60, NKJV) This was a lengthy process!      

Joseph went to Pilate and asked for the body. (Matthew 27:57) Pilate did not believe Yahushua could die so quickly from a process that typically took several days. He sent for the centurion to confirm Yahushua's death. (Mark 15:44, 45) Joseph went and got burial linens, returned to Golgotha and removed the body. (Mark 15:46) Nicodemus arrived bringing 100 pounds of myrrh and aloes for preparing the body for burial. (John 19:39) The body was likely washed before being bound in "strips of linen with the spices." (John 19:40) The body was then laid to rest in Joseph's own tomb which was nearby. (Matthew 27:59, 60)

This lengthy process took the entire night. The Sabbath could not begin at "even" because that was the very time Joseph of Arimathea first went to Pilate to ask for the Saviour's body! If the Sabbath began at "sunset" as many have believed, the Sabbath would have already been broken by the fact that they did not even begin to ask for the body until "evening had come." Now when evening had come, because it was the Preparation Day, that is, the day before the Sabbath, Joseph of Arimathea, a prominent council member, who was himself waiting for the kingdom of Yahuwah, coming and taking courage, went in to Pilate and asked for the body of Yahushua. (See Mark 15:42, 43.) Yahushua's friends finished burying Him just as the Sabbath began to dawn. And he [Joseph of Arimathea] took it down, and wrapped it in linen, and laid it in a sepulchre that was hewn in stone, wherein never man before was laid. And that day was the preparation, and the Sabbath drew on. (Luke 23:53, 54, KJV) The phrase translated 'drew on' in this text, is the Greek word, . . . (epiphosko). The definition is startling: 'to begin to grow light: – begin to dawn.' It is a form of #2017, . . . (epiphauo), which means 'to illuminate . . . give light.' Because they waited until evening to even begin the process of seeking permission to take the body, taking it down, cleaning and wrapping it, etc., it took them the night hours to do their work. They did not finish until the Sabbath began as it started to grow light. (eLaine Vornholt and L. L. Vornholt-Jones, The Great Calendar Controversy, p. 40.) Yahushua was resurrected very early on the first day of the week. The first day of the week, like every other day, began at dawn: In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre. (Matthew 28:1, KJV) The subject of when the day begins is important because it effects the observance of the Sabbath. In recent years, it has become a very controversial topic among Sabbath-keepers. However, when the weight of Scripture is brought together, it is clear that the day begins at dawn and ends at dark. While the nighttime hours have the same date as the day that just ended, the sacred hours of the Sabbath, as revealed in the story of the Exodus, are the daylight hours only.

Bible Study Lessons (part #2) 3. How Sunday-keeping Began

Go to Part #2 Lessons Index Go To Quiz (offline/online)

The King James Version (KJV) is mostly used in these lessons. Click here to access the KJV online.

Sunday is currently the first day of the week on the Roman Gregorian calendar. Saturday is the seventh day of the week on the same calendar. The underlying question in this lesson is who changed the Sabbath from the seventh-day to Sunday the first-day? This is important because the observance of the seventh-day Sabbath is commanded by Yahuwah in the fourth commandment of the Decalogue (Exodus 20:8-11). It will be discovered in this lesson that an entire calendar change was implemented at the time sacredness was applied to Sunday. This clever maneuver in high places, made it appear that Saturday had been the original seventh-day Sabbath, in this way making the Saturday, Sunday question, a double deception. Did Yahuwah give His sanction for a new sacred day? Did Yahuwah give His sanction for a new calendar fabricated by man? Did He ordain the first day of the week following His resurrection? “For I am Yahuwah, I change not.” Malachi 3:6. Only a direct decree from the Heavenly Father can make anything holy and sacred. Find out the details below.

Sunday Sacredness 1. If the change from the true seventh-day Sabbath to Sunday, a mere first day of the week is valid, who authorized it? Answer: Authority for this change should be found in the Bible. Since we are Bible Christians, this goes without saying that the Scriptures are the oracles of the Heavenly Father and therefore carry more weight or authority than any book of human origin. Dictionaries even change, but the Word of our Yahuwah shall stand for ever. Isaiah 40:8. Shall we build on the early "Church Fathers"? These are such men as Clement, Polycarp, Justin Martyr, Irenaeus, and Tertullian. Some of them lived in the second century and some later. Some theologians try to prove doctrine by quoting these early Fathers. Dr. Adam Clarke says in his commentary: But of these [the Fathers] we may safely state, that there is not a truth in the most orthodox creed that cannot be proved by their authority, nor a heresy that has disgraced the Romish Church, that may not challenge them as its authors. In points of doctrine their authority is, with me, nothing. The Word of [Yahuwah] alone contains my creed (Comment on Proverbs 8). In the mid 14th Century, John Wycliffe, the morning star of the Reformation, stood in the gap for truth, against the Roman Church fathers, as he believed unadulterated truth must be firmly founded on the solid rock of Scripture alone. In meeting the opposition of his day, he coined the phrase Sola Scriptura,

meaning that all doctrine must be based on Scripture alone. The Heavenly Father’s ordained standard for all of His laws and all His units of time reckoning, are found and preserved in none other than Scripture. It has been said, If the Bible gives no testimony, there is no light. This is true, but often a deeper word for word study in Hebrew or Greek will bear much light not readily found in a surface reading of Scripture. This is because of the many errors in translation, specifically with regard to the Heavenly Father’s time system. But with the aide of a Strong’s Concordance along with a Hebrew or Greek Lexicon as a second witness, great and marvellous truths will be revealed. http://www.blueletterbible.org/lang/lexicon/lexicon.cfm We need to gather divine rays of light from [Yahushua]. We need to search the Scriptures, and dig deep in the mines of truth; for the precious jewels do not always lie on the surface; we should search for them as for hidden treasure. (Signs of the Times, Dec. 8, 1890). To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this Word, it is because there is no light in them. Isaiah 8:20.

Our Heavenly Father and His Son Do Not Change 2. Could Yahuwah change His own law? Answer: The law of Yahuwah is as sacred as the Lawgiver Himself. It is a revelation of His gracious will, a transcript of His character, the expression of His infinite love and wisdom. The death of Yahushua on Calvary to redeem us from the curse, or penalty, of the law forever proves that Yahuwah could not change His law, not even to save His Son. The following facts prove that this is true: A. Yahuwah does not change. I am Yahuwah, I change not; therefore ye Sons of Jacob are not consumed. Malachi 3:6 (see James 1:17 ). B. The Ten Commandments are Yahuwah's own covenant. He declared unto you His covenant which He commanded you to perform, even the Ten Commandments; and He wrote them upon two tables of stone. Deuteronomy 4:13. C. Yahuwah will not break His covenant or alter His words. My covenant will I not break, nor alter the thing that is gone out of My lips. Psalm 89:34. D. He keeps His covenant for a thousand generations. Know therefore that the Yahuwah thy Eloah, He is Elohim, the faithful El, which keepeth covenant and mercy with them that love Him and keep His commandments to a thousand generations. Deuteronomy 7:9. E. Yahuwah's acts stand forever.

I know that, whatsoever Elohim doeth, it shall be for ever: nothing can be put to it, nor anything taken from it: and Elohim doeth it, that men should fear before Him. Ecclesiastes 3:14. 3. Did Yahushua change the law and the Sabbath? Answer: Since Yahushua and His Father are one (John 10:30 ), and since Yahushua came to do the will of His Father (John 6:38 ), it follows that He would do nothing of which His Father would not approve. So He could not have come to change Yahuwah's eternal law, Yahushua is the active agent in Yahuwah's plans, by whom Yahuwah created all things. And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in Yahuwah, who created all things by Yahushua, the Anointed. Ephesians 3:9 (see 1 Corinthians 8:6). Yahushua, as Creator, ordained the Sabbath during the first week of creation. So He would not have had to come to earth to destroy it. In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with Elohim, and the Word was Elohim. The same was in the beginning with Elohim. All things were made by Him; and without Him was not any thing made that was made. John 1:1-3. And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father) full of grace and truth. John 1:14. Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them. And on the seventh day Elohim ended His work which He had made; and He rested on the seventh day from all his work which He had made. And Elohim blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it He had rested from all His work which Elohim created and made. Genesis 2:1-3. Keep in mind that it was Yahushua who gave the law at Mount Sinai . This is taught by the following two Scripture texts, when placed together: Moreover You led them by day with a cloudy pillar, And by night with a pillar of fire, to give them light on the road which they should travel. You came down also on Mount Sinai , and spoke with them from heaven, and gave them just ordinances and true laws, good statutes and commandments. You made known to them Your holy Sabbath, and commanded them precepts, statutes and laws, by the hand of Moses Your servant. Nehemiah 9:12-14 NKJV And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was the Anointed. 1 Corinthians 10:4. And, while He was on earth, Yahushua walked in harmony with Yahuwah's laws. Note these six vital facts: A. He kept His Father's commandments.

lf ye keep My commandments, ye shall abide in My love; even as I have kept My Father's commandments, and abide in His love. John 15:10. Yahushua did not sin (1 Peter 2:22 ). Sin is the transgression of the law. 1 John 3:4. Therefore, He could not have broken the Sabbath commandment, as some profanely accused Him. B. He came to fulfil (keep) the law, not to destroy it. Think not that I am come to destroy the law or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law till all be fulfilled. Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. Matthew 5:17-19. C. He came to magnify the law. Yahuwah is well pleased for His righteousness' sake; He will magnify the law, and make it honorable. Isaiah 42:21 (read Matthew 5:21 -22, 27-28). D. He Himself kept the Sabbath. He came to Nazareth , where He had been brought up: and, as His custom was, He went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day, and stood up for to read. Luke 4:16. It cannot be assumed that Yahushua’s entering the synagogue on the Sabbath day meant it was either a Saturday or a Sunday, for two very different reasons. Sunday as the first day of the week was never referred to as the Sabbath. And Saturday has only been the seventh-day on the Roman calendar since A.D. 324, and does not follow Scriptures New Moon placements in the Heavenly Father’s time sequence. In addition, both of these days have only held significance after Pagan Rome proactively divorced herself from the use of the Creator’s lunar phases for months and set up an artificial calendar replacement. Therefore both days, Saturday and Sunday are spurious, and counterfeit holy days which do not bear the sign of the Creator. In Genesis 1:1418, He declared that His time system would be according to both the sun and moon for all units of time. E. He openly ignored the man made Jewish Sabbath traditions that are not found in the oracles of Scripture. (See Luke 6:1-11.) F. He indicated that the Sabbath would be sacred forty years after the cross. But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the Sabbath day. Matthew 24:20. Yahushua admonished His followers to pray that their flight from Jerusalem should not be on the Sabbath day (Matthew 24:20). Yahushua knew that this flight (AD. 70) would occur some forty years after His return to heaven.

It is completely conclusive that the unholy deed of attempting to change Yahuwah's everlasting, holy law cannot be charged to His holy Son, Yahushua. He simply is not responsible for the tradition of Sunday-keeping. Historical and even Roman Catholic support for this entire calendar change is forth coming in the follow points. 4. Did Apostle Paul change Yahuwah’s law or Sabbath? Answer: Said the great apostle: Do we then make void the law through faith? Yahuwah forbid: yea, we establish the law. Romans 3:31. We find Paul exclaiming about the established law. This he could not have done had it been abolished. The thought of abrogating the law was repulsive to the apostle. Yahuwah forbid! he says.

Protestants, Historians, and Catholics Testify 5. Do men claim there is Bible proof for the change? A. Catholics say there is absolutely no Bible proof for Sunday sacredness. Sunday is a Catholic institution, and its claims to observance can be defended only on Catholic principles. From the beginning to end of Scripture, there is not a single passage that warrants the transfer of weekly public worship from the last day of the week to the first. (Catholic Press [Sydney, Australia], August 25, 1900). B. Protestants say there is no Bible text commanding Sunday sacredness. In an article about the Sabbath, Smith and Cheetham say: The notion of a formal substitution [of the first for the seventh day] and the transference to it, perhaps in a spiritualized form, of the sabbatical obligation established by the fourth commandment, has no basis whatever, either in Holy Scripture or in Christian antiquity. (Smith and Cheetham's Dictionary of Christian Antiquities.) Dr. R. W. Dale (Congregationalist) says: It is quite clear that however rigidly or devoutly we spend Sunday, we are not keeping the Sabbath. The Sabbath was founded on a specific Divine command. We can plead no such command for the obligation to observe Sunday. . There is not a single sentence in the New Testament to suggest that we incur any penalty by violating the supposed sanctity of Sunday (The Ten Commandments, pages 100-101). Dr. Edward T. Hiscox, author of The Baptist Manual: There was and is a commandment to keep holy the Sabbath day, but that Sabbath day was not Sunday. It will be said, however, and with some show of triumph, that the Sabbath was transferred from the seventh to the first day of the week. . Where can the record of such a transaction be found? Not in the New Testament, absolutely not. (in a paper read before a New York Ministers' Conference, November 13, 1893 ).

C. Historians testify regarding Sunday sacredness: Take special note that neither of these quotes clarify a Saturday to Sunday change in sacredness, but rather from Sabbath to Sunday. Contrary to assumptions, Saturday and Sabbath, have not until recently been considered synonymous. They represent entirely different calendar systems. Unquestionably the first law, either ecclesiastical or civil, by which the sabbatical observance of that day is known to have been ordained, is the edict of Constantine , A.D. 321. This Roman emperor had not yet professed Christianity at the time of this edict, and he speaks of Sunday as the venerable day of the sun. Chamber's Encyclopedia (1880) (Article regarding the Sabbath.) Augustus Neander, celebrated historian: The festival of Sunday, like all other festivals, was always only a human ordinance, and it was far from the intentions of the apostles to establish a divine command in this respect, far from them and from the early apostolic Church to transfer the laws of the Sabbath to Sunday (The History of the Christian Religion and Church, Rose's translation, p. 186). If the Sabbath had been changed by Yahuwah, surely the record of the change would be found in His Word.

Roman Catholics Acknowledged the Changes 6. Does the Church of Rome admit she made the change? Answer: We return now to the prophecy of Daniel 7 where the little horn, or the papacy, was to think to change Yahuwah's laws. He shall speak great words against the Most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time. Daniel 7:25. Through the prophet Daniel, Yahuwah foretold the 1,260-year reign of the papacy and its determination to change times and laws. A change was not only attempted, it was successfully implemented by Rome . It was never her plan however, to change only the day, but rather the entire calendar, including all holy days that include the Sabbath. It should be noted that the oldest dated Christian inscription to employ a planetary designation belongs to the year 269 A.D. (Inscriptiones Christianae urbis Romae, ed. De Rossi, 1861, i, No. 1). The above quote is referring to the planetary names of the days of the Roman calendar week, i.e. Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, etc. These are the names attributed by Rome for each day of the unbroken chain of successive weeks. In other words, there is no record for an unbroken chain of successive weeks every existing prior to A.D. 269. This is during the 300 years that the Creator’s calendar was changed by Rome , and then sold to all the world as existing since the dawn of creation in the form of an unbroken chain of successive weeks. The modern seven-day week came into use during the early imperial period, after the Julian calendar came into effect, apparently stimulated by immigration from the Roman East. For a while it coexisted alongside the

old 8-day nundinal cycle, and fasti are known which show both cycles. It was finally given official status by Constantine in 321. Roman calendar Encyclopedia, Days of the Week. A Profession Of Faith From The Church Of Constantinople in the year 325 C.E. (A.D.) Under The Emperor Constantine “I renounce all customs, rites, legalisms. unleavened breads & sacrifices of lambs of the Hebrews, and all other feasts of the Hebrews, sacrifices, prayers, aspersions, purifications, sanctifications and propitiations and fasts, and new moons, and Sabbaths, and superstitions, and hymns and chants and observances and Synagogues, and the food and drink of The Hebrews; in one word, I renounce everything Jewish, every law, rite and custom and if afterwards I shall wish to deny and return to Jewish superstition, or shall be found eating with The Jews, or feasting with them, or secretly conversing and condemning the Christian religion instead of openly confuting them and condemning their vain faith, then let the trembling of Gehazi cleave to me, as well as the legal punishments to which I acknowledge myself liable. And may I be anathema in the world to come, and may my soul be set down with Satan and the devils.” Source: Parks, James The Conflict Of The Church And The Synagogue Athenaeum, New York , 1974, pp. 397 - 398. Regarding Easter Sunday Constantine writes the following statement showing his personal sentiment toward the Jews. He uses this negative sentiment to sell an artifical festival to his non present Bishops: It was, in the first place, declared improper to follow the custom of the Jews in the celebration of this holy festival, because, their hands having been stained with crime, the minds of these wretched men are necessarily blinded. ... Let us, then, have nothing in common with the Jews, who are our adversaries. ... avoiding all contact with that evil way. ... who, after having compassed the death of [Yahushua], being out of their minds, are guided not by sound reason, but by an unrestrained passion, wherever their innate madness carries them. ... a people so utterly depraved. ... Therefore, this irregularity must be corrected, in order that we may no more have any thing in common with those parricites and the murderers of our [Master]. ... no single point in common with the perjury of the Jews. Theodoret's Ecclesiastical History 1.9 records The Epistle of the Emperor Constantine, concerning the matters transacted at the Council, addressed to those Bishops who were not present. The American Sentinel (N.Y.), June 1, 1893 , page 173, quotes Thomas Enright, C.S.S.R., of Redemptorist College : The Bible says, Remember that thou keep holy the Sabbath day. The Catholic Church says, No! By my divine power I abolish the Sabbath day, and command you to keep holy the first day of the week. The above remarkable statement is an accurate statement of the attitude and objective of Rome toward the Bible Sabbath over the past 1,700 years. 7. Do the Scriptures foretell a restoration of the Sabbath? Answer: The Creator of the universe, who made the seventh-day Sabbath a sign of His power and right to rule, certainly would not leave His Sabbath to be trampled underfoot forever, or His holy law to be mutilated by the mind and hand of man. Isaiah foretold a great call to Sabbath observance. And the teachers of the true Sabbath he called The repairers of the breach, The restorers of paths to dwell in. Here are his words:

And they that shall be of thee shall build the old waste places: thou shalt raise up the foundations of many generations; and thou shalt be called, The repairer of the breach, The restorer of paths to dwell in. If thou turn away thy foot from the Sabbath, from doing thy pleasure on My holy day; and call the Sabbath a delight, the holy of Yahuwah, honourable; and shalt honour Him, not doing thine own ways, nor finding thine own pleasure, nor speaking thine own words: then shalt thou delight thyself in Yahuwah; and I will cause thee to ride upon the high places of the earth, and feed thee with the heritage of Jacob thy father: for the mouth of Yahuwah hath spoken it. Isaiah 58:12-14. Special emphasis was placed upon the seventh-day Sabbath at creation. At the time of the Exodus, Yahuwah again highlighted the importance of the Sabbath by restoring to Israel it’s time placement according to the New Moons. During the ministry of Yahushua, but especially in His death, emphasis is again given to His true Sabbath. (Refer to “The True Crucifixion Date.”) Nearly 2000 years after Yahshua’s death and resurrection, He is once again restoring His true seventh-day Sabbath to His faithful, these are they, who are willing to “follow the lamb whithersoever he goeth.” In contrast, it has been revealed that for nearly 1700 years “all the world wondered after the beast” and her artificial calendar system. (See also Revelation 12:17; 14:6-15). We must here squarely face the issue. Yahuwah's law is eternal. Even if it were a changeable law, only Yahuwah, the Lawgiver, could change it, and His Word affords no such record or permission. A power professing to hold on this earth the place of Yahuwah Almighty asserts that it has the power to change Yahuwah's law; but Yahushua said, Howbeit in vain do they worship Me, teaching, for doctrines the commandments of men. Mark 7:7.

Sunday-keeping In The New Testament The first day of Scripture's luni-solar calendar week, is mentioned eight times in the New Testament. While Sunday is the first day of the week, it is only the first day on the Roman calendar, which has no connection whatever to Scriptures appointed time system with each month beginning on the New Moon. The word Sunday is not mentioned in the entire Bible. All the days located on the Roman Julian/Gregorian calendar are of equal value, with no sacredness attributed to them by the Heavenly Father. Sunday was not even appointed to the position of first day of the week until Constantine designated it to be so in the year A.D. 324, when the entire calendar swap was completed. This is less than 1700 years ago. 8. Did Yahushua intend that this day should replace the Bible Sabbath? Answer: Yahushua never made any change in Yahuwah's Ten Commandment law. Would He who came to magnify the law, and make it honourable, or change it instead? How about the Sabbath commandment? Did He give any instruction about another day, telling us which day it is, what it commemorates, and how to keep it? If Yahushua had changed the Sabbath, He would most certainly have made it known, and the record would be found in His New Testament, which contains the story of His life. 9. What is the testimony of Matthew?

Answer: Matthew mentions the first day of the week but once. In the end of the Sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre. Matthew 28:1. Now after the Sabbath, toward the dawn of the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to see the sepulchre. Matthew 28:1 (RSV). This is a simple statement in connection with the story of the resurrection. It clearly sets forth the Sabbath as distinct from the first day of the week. The original Greek of Matthew 28:1 has been misused in an effort to prove that the Sabbath was changed to the first day of the week, but only the uninformed, or those who wish to mislead the uninformed, would ever try to erect a Sabbath change on Matthew 28:1. 10. What is the testimony of Mark? Answer: Mark mentions the first day of the week two times. And when the Sabbath was past, Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James, and Salome, had brought sweet spices, that they might come and anoint Him. And very early in the morning the first day of the week, they came unto the sepulchre at the rising of the sun. Mark 16:1-2. Now when Yahushua was risen early the first day of the week, He appeared first to Mary Magdalene, out of whom He had cast seven devils. Mark 16:9. Now let us look at these verses closely: A. The Sabbath is past before the first day of the week begins. When the Sabbath was past . . . very early in the morning the first day of the week. Mark 16:1-2. B. Yahushua was buried on the day before the Sabbath. And now when the even was come, because it was the preparation, that is. the day before the Sabbath. Joseph of Arimathea, an honourable counsellor, which also waited for the kingdom of Yahuwah , came and went in boldly unto Pilate and craved the body of Yahushua. And Pilate marvelled if He were already dead: and calling unto him the centurion, he asked him whether he had been any while dead. And when he knew it of the centurion, he gave the body to Joseph. And he bought fine linen, and took Him down, and wrapped Him in the linen, and laid Him in a sepulchre which was hewn out of a rock, and rolled a stone unto the door of the sepulchre. Mark 15:42-46. C. Yahushua rested in the tomb during the Sabbath. D. He rose from the dead the first day of the week. Now when Yahushua was risen early the first day of the week. Mark 16:9.

E. He appeared first unto Mary. He appeared first to Mary Magdalene, out of whom He had cast seven devils. Mark 16:9. F. She told others who believed not. She went and told them that had been with Him. as they mourned and wept. And they, when they had heard that He was alive. and had been seen of her, believed not. Mark 16:10-11. G. He appeared unto two followers. After that He appeared in another form unto two of them. as they walked, and went into the country. Mark 16:12 . H. They reported to the disciples, who believed not. And they went and told it unto the residue: neither believed they them. Mark 16:13 . I. Yahushua appeared and upbraided the disciples for unbelief. Afterward He appeared unto the eleven as they sat at meat, and upbraided them with their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they believed not them which had seen Him after He was risen. Mark 16:14 . Yahushua never mentioned the first day of the week as far as Mark's record is concerned. If Yahushua did say anything about the matter, Mark did not consider it important enough to record. Mark does say that the Sabbath was past; therefore it is the day before the first day of the week. Ten years after Yahushua's death, resurrection, and ascension, when he was writing this account, Mark knew nothing whatever of any change, and incidentally mentions the first day of the week twice. Both Mark and Yahushua are silent on the sanctity of "Sunday." 11. What is the testimony of Luke? Answer: Luke mentions the first day of the week but once. Luke 24:1- Now upon the first day of the week, very early in the morning, they came unto the sepulchre, bringing the spices which they had prepared, and certain others with them. According to Luke, Yahushua's followers kept the Sabbath day before the first day came. Luke 23:55 -56- And the women also, which came with Him from Galilee , followed after, and beheld the sepulchre, and how His body was laid. And they returned. and prepared spices and ointments; and rested the Sabbath day according to the commandment. Luke 23:54 - And that day was the preparation, and the Sabbath drew on (Mark 15:42 ).

Luke, like Mark, tells us of Yahushua's appearance to two followers on the first day. Luke 24:13-16- And, behold, two of them went that same day to a village called Emmaus, which was from Jerusalem about threescore furlongs. And they talked together of all these things which had happened. And it came to pass that, while they communed together and reasoned, Yahushua Himself drew near, and went with them. But their eyes were holden that they should not know Him. (Read the rest of the story in verses 17-32.) Yahushua appeared to the terrified disciples on the first day. Read Luke 24:33-43. Luke gives no record that Yahushua ever referred to the first day of the week. He does point out that some of Yahushua's followers rested the Sabbath day according to the commandment. Naturally, this was according to the fourth commandment, but these close friends of Yahushua never heard of any Sabbath change to "Sunday." Both Mark and Luke give testimony that the disciples, on that resurrection day, did not believe that Yahushua had risen. Luke and the Master of his Gospel are silent on the sacredness of "Sunday." 12. What is the testimony of John? Answer: John mentions the first day of the week twice. The first day of the week cometh Mary Magdalene early, when it was yet dark, unto the sepulchre, and seeth the stone taken away from the sepulchre. John 20:1. The same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled for fear of the Jews, came Yahushua and stood in the midst, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you. John 20:19. Now let us get the picture here: Mary Magdalene came to the sepulchre early the first day. The first day of the week cometh Mary Magdalene early. John 20:1. Later Yahushua appeared to her (John 20:11 -17). Yahushua appeared later that day to the disciples (John 20:19 ). But they were not celebrating His resurrection that day, for they did not yet believe He had been raised from the dead; rather, they had locked themselves in "for fear of the Jews." John gives no record that Yahushua ever mentioned the first day of the week. John and Yahushua are silent on the sanctity of "Sunday." So the four Gospel writers who give us the record of Yahushua's life are absolutely silent on any change of the Sabbath or any sanctity of "Sunday." 13. What is the testimony of the book of Acts? Answer: The book of Acts records eighty-four Sabbath services and only one first-day service. This latter service is recorded in Acts 20:7-14. Paul spent a week at Troas . The night after the Sabbath (i.e night of the seventh day) he held a farewell meeting. It was night; there were lights, and he preached till midnight . But then again, the following remains inconceivable-

The only way that it could be night and also be the first day of the week would be that this meeting at Troas was held during the night after the sacred hours of the Sabbath day. Now since, Bible days begin at sunrise. When the sun rises the next day, the first day of the week begins. Thus Paul's meeting was on the night after the Sabbath day. The next day, which is the first day of the week, in the morning hours, Paul walked nineteen miles to Assos to meet his fellow workers who had departed by ship and sailed thence. There is no "Sunday" sacredness here.

Conybeare and Howson: It was the evening which succeeded the Jewish Sabbath (The Life and Epistles of the Apostle, 520).

Now they broke bread, but the disciples broke bread daily (Acts 2:46 ). If this bread breaking was the [Master's] Supper, it still would have no bearing upon Sunday sacredness; for it commemorates Yahushua's death that took place on Preparation Day, the sixth day, but not His resurrection, because that took place on the first day. The [Master's] Supper may be celebrated on any day (1 Corinthians 11:26 , for positive evidence). So we see the book of Acts is silent on Sunday sanctity. 14. What of testimony of Apostle Paul? Answer: Paul's epistles mention the first day of the week just once. Now concerning the collection for the saints, as I have given order to the ekklesia of Galatia , even so do ye. Upon the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as Yahuwah hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come. And when I come, whomsoever ye shall approve by your letters, them will I send to bring your liberality unto Jerusalem . 1 Corinthians 16:1-3. Many have honestly supposed that this text indicated a weekly gathering. However, it teaches just the contrary-Let every one of you lay by him in store, which means privately or at home. Greek scholars testify to this. The believers would normally keep the Sabbath; and, after it was past, they figured their earnings of the week and set aside a gift portion for the poor. Weymouth 's translation (3d ed.) reads, Let each of you put on one side and store up at his home. Translation after translation could be given to support what your own Bible clearly teaches. There is no evidence for a "Sunday" gathering of any kind. This was a collection that Paul desired to see accumulating in the homes of the Corinthian believers over a period of time, and that he wished to take to Jerusalem for poor believers. And so it is clear that Paul mentions the first day but once. And in that text he is utterly silent on first-day sanctity. Note: If this was a weekly worship meeting including the collection of tithe and offering as practiced today, Paul would have been in error by saying ‘that there be no gatherings when I come’ – for he had no authority to have prevented such a collection in a local assembly 'when he came or arrived there'. He was simply on a tight schedule to reach Jerusalem and wanted it well organized and prepared when he got to them. He who is our example kept the Sabbath. He did not keep "Sunday." In all the New Testament, there is no record that He personally ever once mentioned the first day of the week. The custom of Sunday keeping is a purely human invention, though millions of sincere Christians have kept the first day of the week with no

knowledge of their responsibility to the true Sabbath. Yahuwah has accepted the worship of these dear children of His. But when light comes, responsibility to walk in that light comes with it (1 John 1:7). 15: Is the sacredness of the Creator's Sabbath the only time centric change Rome made? The content of this article primarily has to do with Sunday-keeping and when this tradition began. The larger picture, only newly revealed, is that the entire Creator's calendar of Scripture has been replaced by the Roman counterfeit system. This artificial Roman time keeping system, as based on only the solar rotations, affects not only the Sabbath, but also each week, each month, and each year. Therefore, whether you have been a faithful Sunday keeper or a faithful Saturday keeper, the truth is that neither of these days follow the algorithms of Scripture and by their very nature, neither can be the true Sabbath. It was the early part of the fourth century that the emperor Constantine issued a decree calling Sunday a public holy day throughout the Roman Empire . This day of the sun was to be reverenced by his pagan subjects as well as honored by Christians; it was Constantine 's policy to unite the conflicting interests of heathenism and Christianity. He was urged to do this by the bishops of the church, who, inspired by ambition and thirst for power, perceived that if the same day was observed by both Christians and pagans, it would promote the nominal acceptance of Christianity by pagans and thus advance the power and glory of the church. But while many faithful Christians were gradually led to regard Sunday as possessing a degree of sacredness, they still held the true Sabbath of the luni-solar calendar, as the holy of Yahuwah and observed it in obedience to the fourth commandment. This however, became increasingly more difficult as the new format of unbroken cycles of successive weeks, became the norm. The great deceiver had not fully completed his work. He was determined to gather the Christian world under his false calendar banner and to exercise his power through his human rulers, the proud pontiff who claimed to be the representative of Yahushua. Through half-converted pagans, ambitious prelates, and world-loving churchmen he accomplished his purpose. Vast synods were held from time to time, in which the dignitaries of the church were convened from all the world. In nearly every council, the Sabbath as beaconed from the heavens at creation, was pressed down a little lower, while Sunday of the newly implemented unbroken cycles of successive weeks, was exalted upon the man made and artificial calendar of Rome . Thus the pagan festival came finally to be honored as a divine institution, while the luni-solar Sabbath of Scripture was pronounced a relic of Judaism, and its observers were declared lunatics. Over time, the calendation principles as beaconed by the New Moon were lost to all, including the Jewish and Christian communities. Additional evidence: In the mid-1st century B.C. Julius Cæsar invited Sosigenes, an Alexandrian astronomer, to advise him about the reform of the calendar, and Sosigenes decided that the only practical step was to abandon the lunar calendar altogether. Months must be arranged on a seasonal basis, and a tropical (solar) year used, as in the Egyptian calendar.” The Julian Calendar,” Encyclopedia Britannica. The following Psalm is a prophecy as given by King David: How great are the things the enemy did wickedly in the Holy place. They hated your glory in the midst of your solemnities. They placed their signs and banners on the highest places. . . . They burned with fire your

sanctuary; they befouled the tabernacle of your name on earth. The kindred of them said together in their hearts; make we all the feast days” of [Yahuwah] to cease from the earth.” Psalms 74:3, 7, 8 Wycliffe Bible, 1378 2nd Century (Emperor Hadrian) In the years following Clement of Alexandria's time, an ominous change started to take place that was to radically change the Christian concept of the Sabbath.” Records the Encyclopedia Biblica: This intimate connection between the week and the month was soon dissolved. It is certain that the week soon followed a development of its own, and it became the custom -- without paying any regard to the days of the month (i.e. the luni-solar month) . . . so that the New Moon no longer coincided with the first day of the month. Then, on page 4179 of the same encyclopedia, we read: The introduction . . . of the custom of celebrating the Sabbath every 7th day, irrespective of the relationship of the day to the moon's phases, led to a complete separation from the ancient view of the Sabbath. . . Encyclopaedia Biblica, 1903 p. 5290. This change from the luni-solar to a fixed solar calendar occurred in Rome during the repressive measures which were enacted against ALL Jewish customs and practices, including the lunar calendar. With the fall of the Nazarene headquarters...at Jerusalem , this new Roman calendar quickly spread throughout 'Christendom.' This new calendar not only replaced yearly festival dates such as Passover, but it also revamped the concept of the week and its seventh day.” Iranaeus 2 nd Century A.D. The modern seven-day week came into use during the early imperial period, after the Julian calendar came into effect, apparently stimulated by immigration from the Roman East. For a while it coexisted alongside the old 8-day nundinal cycle, and fasti are known which show both cycles. It was finally given official status by Constantine in 321. Roman calendar Encyclopedia, Days of the Week A Profession Of Faith From The Church Of Constantinople in the year 325 C.E.(A.D.) Under The Emperor Constantine I renounce all customs, rites, legalisms. unleavened breads & sacrifices of lambs of the Hebrews, and all other feasts of the Hebrews, sacrifices, prayers, aspersions, purifications, sanctifications and propitiations and fasts, and new moons, and Sabbaths, and superstitions, and hymns and chants and observances and Synagogues, and the food and drink of The Hebrews; in one word, I renounce everything Jewish, every law, rite and custom and if afterwards I shall wish to deny and return to Jewish superstition, or shall be found eating with The Jews, or feasting with them, or secretly conversing and condemning the Christian religion instead of openly confuting them and condemning their vain faith, then let the trembling of Gehazi cleave to me, as well as the legal punishments to which I acknowledge myself liable. And may I be anathema in the world to come, and may my soul be set down with Satan and the devils.” Source: Parks, James The Conflict Of The Church And The Synagogue Athenaeum, New York , 1974, p. 397 - 398. Under the reign of Constantius the persecutions of the Jews reached such a height that. . . the computation of the calendar [was] forbidden under pain of severe punishment.” The Jewish Encyclopedia, Calendar.” Sabbath and New Moon (Rosh Hodesh), both periodically recur in the course of the year. The New Moon is still, and the Sabbath originally was, dependent upon the lunar cycle. Universal Jewish Encyclopedia, page 410

The laws of [Yahuwah] and the time of [Yahuwah] were to be changed by this antichristian power . . . In the prophecy it is plainly shown that this papal power would with deliberate intention change the law of [Yahuwah] . . . .” Signs of the Times 11/19/1894 . The Israelites, on the other hand, made the Sabbath the feasts of a living and holy [Eloah]. The work of man became symbolic of the work of [Yahuwah], and human rest of divine rest, so that the Sabbaths became preeminently days of rest. Since, moreover, the LUNAR MONTH had 29 or 30 days, the normal lapse of time between Sabbaths was six days, although sometimes seven or eight; and six working days were accordingly assigned to the creation, which was to furnish a prototype for human life. The connection of the Sabbath with lunar phases, however, was (later) discarded by the Israelites…” The New Schaff-Herzog Religious Encyclopedia p. 135-136. Answer: No. Rome created and implemented an entire counterfeit calendar of her own devising. As an added piece of evidence, neither Saturday nor Sunday are the true Sabbath. In this way Yahuwah has leveled the playing field for all Christian churches by removing this earthly struggle. All the world, not only Sunday keepers, have followed after this beast and her power to implement upon unsuspecting souls a false calendar system. In Revelation 18:2-4, And he cried mightily with a strong voice, saying, Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen. . . come out of her, My people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.” For more details on this subject, please visit the other articles on Yahuwah's Calendar. 16. What is the double deception behind the assertion of Sunday sacredness? Deception #1: Rome has led all to believe that there are only two choices, Saturday or Sunday. Rome claims that the mark of her authority was that she had the power to change Yahuwah's holy day from Saturday to Sunday. Protestants assert that the seventh-day Sabbath, according to the Old Testament, was indeed located on Saturday prior to Yahushua's death and resurrection, after which it became the first day of the week in honor of His resurrection. Saturday Sabbatarians assert that Yahuwah's holy day has remained, and will continue to remain, through out eternity steadfastly located on Saturday since its inception during the first week of creation. The golden cord of deception that holds these arguments together in a tight package, as bundles to be burned, is the perception that an unbroken chain of successive weeks has continued since creation. As this is one of the calendar elements that Rome , herself, instituted in the fourth century, it becomes the glue that keeps all the world held fast to this deception. The Biblical calendar that began at Creation was according to the dual action of both sun and moon. It was the New Moons, however, that beaconed its years, months and weeks. Therefore the Creator's Sabbath is only found as it is beaconed by the New Moon. Also, in this luni-solar calendar the weeks do not float, but rather are fixed on specific days of the week, as well as specific days of the month. For more info regarding unbroken chains of weeks, refer to article, "The Modern Seven Day Week: Exploring the History of a Lie." Deception #2: While the Christian community has continued to tug-of-war over Saturday and Sunday, it has gone completely unnoticed that there has been a third option. It is only in light of the enormity of the third option that it is seen that according to both Scripture, history and astronomy, that neither Saturday nor Sunday can be the true Sabbath of Scripture. Scripture prophesies a calendar change and history records the who, what, when and where it began. Astronomy exposes that the Roman calendar is a counterfeit, as its months are not in sync with the moon's lunar cycles and phases. The Creator's years, months and Sabbaths are all beaconed by the New Moon.

Saturday Sabbatarians have continued to quote from Catholic sources as proof that Saturday by Rome's own admission is the true seventh-day Sabbath. The following statements from Rome 's representatives have confirmed in the minds of these deceived Saturday Sabbatarians that indeed Saturday is the true Sabbath. In this way Rome continues to sell the double lie. In reality it was the whole calendar system they changed, which when they speak of changing a day, it is just rhetoric. Their statements hold no intrinsic value or truth, other than to continue to sell the lie. Any day claimed to be holy on an artificial and counterfeit calendar is an obvious imposter. Now with educated and enlightened eyes, please read the following statements from Rome 's Representatives, remembering that now where in Scripture are the words Saturday or Sunday: Cardinal Gibbons declared: You may read the Bible from Genesis to Revelation, and you will not find a single line authorizing the sanctification of Sunday. The Scriptures enforce the religious observance of Saturday.- The Faith of Our Fathers (110th ed.), p. 89. The Catholic Mirror of September 23, 1893 : The Catholic Church, for over one thousand years before the existence of a Protestant, by virtue of her divine mission, changed the day from Saturday to Sunday. Here we quote Peter Geiermann, From Catholicism's Catechism: Q. Which is the Sabbath day? A. Saturday is the Sabbath day. Q. Why do we observe Sunday instead of Saturday? A. We observe Sunday instead of Saturday because the Catholic Church, in the Council of Laodicea (A.D. 336), transferred the solemnity from Saturday to Sunday. (The Convert's Catechism of Catholic Doctrine, p. 50). Roman Catholicism changed Yahuwah's sacred and holy seventh-day Sabbath by changing the entire luni-solar calendar of Scripture to the Julian/Gregorian calendar. Because of this all the world has wondered after the beast,” and has been deceived into believing that Sunday is the first day of the week and Saturday is the seventh-day Sabbath. May our loving Heavenly Father have mercy on us all as we each come to terms with this devastating double deception? Four facts now stand out in bold relief: 1. Yahuwah predicted that the papacy would “think to change” Yahuwah’s Law. 2. The Papacy openly declares that it has changed Yahuwah’s law.

3. As foretold by the apostle Paul in 2 Thessalonians 2:3-4, the Papacy thus exalts itself above Yahuwah. NOTE: The Papacy also removed the 2nd Commandment, which forbids idol worship. In order to keep 10 Commandments, they divided the 10th Commandment into two parts. So, in fact, they have added an 11th commandment. Read Exodus 20:3-17 and compare it with the Catholic version below: R C C VERSION (Creator's Seal Removed) I I am the Lord thy God. Thou shalt have no strange gods before me. (The second commandment has been omitted) II (actually III) Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain. III (actually IV) Remember that thou keep holy the Sabbath day. (The sabbath commandment has been radically altered) IV (actually V) Honor thy father and thy mother. V (actually VI) Thou shalt not kill. VI (actually VII) Thou shalt not commit adultery. VII (actually VIII) Thou shalt not steal. VIII (actually IX) Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour. IX (actually X, first part)

Thou shalt not covet they neighbor's wife. X (actually X, second part) Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's goods. (--The General Catholic Catechism) 4. A double deception was crafted by Rome, first that she had been bestowed with the power to change Yahuwah’s holy day from Saturday to Sunday. But the real deception lay in that fact that the entire calendar system set up by Yahuwah at Creation, and beaconed by the New Moon had been replaced with a counterfeit. As a result it is discovered that neither Saturday nor Sunday are sacred holy days, as they are only in sync with the timing of the man made, artificial calendar, known today as the Roman Gregorian calendar. To enhance this double deception, was included the widely proclaimed lie that unbroken chains of successive weeks have continued since creation. As has been found this teaching never existed prior to the 3rd century A.D., a mere 1700 years. Answer: There is a third option that has been withheld, that an entire counterfeit calendar was implemented for the world by Rome . This calendar itself, has continued to promote the lie that an unbroken chain of successive weeks has continued since creation. In reality the Bible teaches that the New Moon beacons years, months, and Sabbaths. Will you ask the Heavenly Father to help you make a commitment today to keep His true and holy seventh-day Sabbath of Creation, as beaconed by the New Moon?
