Business & Financial Analyst Description of the College Fraser International College (FIC), in association with Simon Fraser University, offers university pathway programs to international students and is based on the campus of Simon Fraser University in Burnaby. Position Navitas is seeking to employ a Business & Financial Analyst to join our North American team in Burnaby, BC. Reporting to the VP Corporate Services, this role will drive the development of business analytics and new business modelling in a newly established Commercial Finance team within University Partnerships North America at their location in Burnaby, alongside the evolution of the business planning processes. About the role The role will work alongside the operational leadership team, including College and Executive Directors, to:     

Enhance the commercial business partnering approach with our business units Identify opportunities to improve the core business through performance monitoring and analysis Develop robust commercial modelling for strategic investment opportunities Ensure our business planning processes are robust and well executed Assist in preparing short to long term forecasts, as well as conduct comprehensive financial analysis on financial and operating results

Deliver a robust commercial business partnering approach, ensuring ownership and accountability in place with College/Executive Directors, and financial control paramount Identification of opportunities to optimize the financial and operational position drivers of the business units

Development of commercial business models to support key business unit commercial decisions and new business development Coordinate and evolve the annual planning processes throughout the division Develop timely and relevant management reporting templates and tools as the business changes, particularly focused on student / volume metrics and marketing analytics Work closely with the Finance Shared Services function to ensure that divisional management accounts are accurate and the evolving business needs/requirements are well understood and planned for Support the divisional growth objectives by providing high levels of financial analysis to both Division and Group

Essential Skills, Knowledge and Experience         

A degree and/or appropriate professional Accounting qualification (i.e. CMA or CPA or equivalent) At least 5 years working experience with 2 years previous experience in a business / finance analyst or management accounting role, in a commercial environment Strong system and financial modelling / analytical skills Advanced Excel skills Must have high level of working knowledge of Oracle Hyperion Planning and HFM Reporting A strong communicator, with proven ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels and with a range of backgrounds Excellent report writing skills An agile self-starter, who can work collaboratively in ambiguous environments High degree of commercial acumen, with proven problem-solving skills, and the ability to work through complex matters

Desirable Skills   

Business Development experience in modelling and presentations Good understanding of processes across a multi-site, complex organization Previous education sector experience
