Betty Jean was born on December 11, 1934 in Ceylon, MN to Herman and Helen Brandstetter, who preceded her death. Born in Germany, Herman was a seaman on a steamship hauling cargo from Chilean mines. He was able to informally join one of the naval supply ships of Teddy Roosevelt's "Great White Fleet" on its return journey to the United States. After some years farming, Herman had a small café. Helen was from the Amana Colonies in Iowa. Betty was a loving mother and wife and achieved her goal of receiving a college education. She taught 5th grade at a private school in Huntsville, AL. After being a teacher, Betty worked for the Patriot Missile Project Office in Huntsville, AL. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother and two sisters. Survivors include her loving husband, William; sons, William David (Diann) Brinda of Somerville, AL and Jonathan Mark Brinda of Flintville, TN; grandsons, Daniel (Anne Marie) Brinda of Minneapolis, MN, Nathan Brinda of San Antonio, TX, and William David (Sonya) Brinda II of New Haven, CT; great grandson, Theodore Ambrose Brinda born on June 6, 2018 to William and Sonya Brinda; and five nieces, including Virginia Ringenn of MN and Patricia Hovan of AZ.
