DETROIT
Blessed are you who hunger and thirst for righteousness…
MICHIGAN
What is justice? What’s the difference between God’s definition of justice and our society’s? This summer, our mission is to find out what God is up to in the city of Chicago. Our hope is to collaborate with people who are doing God’s work of making all things new and return home with a renewed sense of mission and God’s calling.
The 2017 Justice Pilgrimage
these are our values: Pilgrimage: It is a deeply rooted tradition in the Christian church to go on pilgrimage. Many people pilgrimage to sights of great historical significance (like the Vatican or Jerusalem), others to places more sentimental. As important as the destination is, often times, the real spiritual formation is found while on the journey.
Dojo: This is our metaphor for how we do Christian thought and practice. Much like a martial artist learns the way of his sansei by practicing his craft in a dojo, we learn the way of Jesus by practicing it, instead of just talking about it! Sure we could research all of this information on the internet but real discovery happens when you get your hands dirty!
Sustainability: Being mindful of our place in the world. We recognize that we are guests in Chicago and we will do our best effort not to interfere with or disrupt the flow of people already doing good work, we’re simply coming to listen and to serve.
