James begins Chapter 4 of his book by asking, “What causes fights and quarrels among you?” He then says that selfish desire, comparison, and jealousy are the cause of many of our conflicts. So, it’s time to check our egos and learn to control our desires.

Discussion Questions 1. What is something you’ve always wanted, but you’ve never directly asked God about? Why haven’t you asked Him? 2. What triggers fights, tension, and jealousy in your relationships? How would these situations look different if you put God at the center of them? 3. How easy is it for you to say enough? In what two or three areas in your life can you can start to say enough and learn to be content with what you have? 4. Read James 4:17. When have you felt prompted to reach out to someone or help another person? Did you listen to that nudge or ignore it? Why?

Challenge Take time this week and make the most of each moment. If there is good you know you should do, go do it. Write the note, send the text, get on the plane— because true joy in life is found in the good we do and people we love, not in money or the things we accumulate.
