discussion questions 1. Share a time when someone else’s work has helped you flourish. 2. Say aloud together, “God has put me where I am.” Is that hard for you to believe? In what ways does acknowledging that God put you where you are for a reason shift your attitudes about where you live, where you work, and what else you do? 3. Read Jeremiah 28:2–3, 11–17 and summarize Hananiah’s false dreams. In Jeremiah 29:8–9, God cautions against having dreams that are centered on our own escape and comfort. As you think about your work, what are the ways you lean toward escape/comfort instead of putting down roots and flourishing? 4. Take a look at Jeremiah 29:7. What are some practical ways you could cultivate shalom and be a blessing to those in your world everyday? (co-workers, clients, family members, employees serving you, etc.) 5. This message of Jeremiah 29 was written to a community of people. How can our church community respond to this call? How are we already or how could we cultivate shalom and pursue God’s dreams together in our city? Close by praying for the welfare of our city.
