Work is progressing well on our post flood recovery and we look forward to reopening with four exciting new exhibitions before too long. WHANGANUI ARTS REVIEW Due to the recent flooding and temporary closure of the Gallery, it was necessary to reschedule this year’s Arts Review to early next year. We are delighted to announce that the 2016 Belton, Smith & Associates Ltd Whanganui Arts Review will open on Friday 4 March, 2016. This much-anticipated event is scheduled to run for 12 weeks. INFILTRATIONS II To 31 January 2016 An artists group infiltrates the museum exhibitions with artworks created in response to the museum collections. BILLY CONNELL’S WAR – WHANGANUI IN WORLD WAR 1 The bitter-sweet story of a young Whanganui man who enlisted in 1914 and served in the Gallipoli campaign during World War I. MOA GALLERY Over 2000 moa bones and skeletons are being incorporated into a gallery, providing a visible storage unit, a science study centre and an exhibition attraction. This is a work in progress. As moa bones are identified, catalogued, researched, photographed and studied, they will be installed in the gallery. ¯ KAITORE - IT’S NOT BLACK PA AND WHITE To February 2016 A photographic essay by Leigh Mitchell-Anyon of the 1995 occupation of Pākaitore / Moutoa Gardens in Whanganui.
