FREEDOM...from Responsibility for Others Sometimes we take on unhealthy burdens of responsibility for other people. God directs us to “carry each other’s burdens” straight to Him, our Savior, Helper, Comforter and Friend. If you have taken responsibility for someone instead of being responsible to someone, please pray the following prayer: Lord, I renounce the lie that I am responsible for being a savior to the people around me or that I must always be responsible for others by being the strong one. Thank You, Lord, that it's alright for me to be honest about my own needs. Thank You that when I am weak, You are strong within me. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
When I feel responsible FOR Others
When I feel responsible TO Others
I trust in myself first
I trust God first
by fixing by protecting by rescuing by controlling by carrying out their feelings
by showing empathy by encouraging by sharing by confronting by leveling by being sensitive by listening
I feel unrest,
I feel peaceful,
… tired, anxious, fearful and liable
... relaxed, free, aware, trusting by faith
I am concerned with getting the problem under my control
by being responsible for… the solution the answers the circumstances being right my performance manipulating and controlling the person living up to my expectations
I am concerned with getting under God's control by believing God will supply the other person’s needs by expecting the person to be responsible for himself and his own actions by being a helper-guide by relating person to person by sharing feelings by trusting and letting go
