Most Gracious Father, we come before You in awe and worship as Your Word reveals to us Your perfect holiness. Your Law is a lamp and a light to us, and it shines into our minds and hearts to show us our sin. Not one of us stands righteous before You. We cry out to You for mercy, and for the gracious redemption that comes to us only by the sacrifice of Your Son. Turn us from trusting in anything but Jesus, and lead us in the true freedom we find in His gracious Gospel. Hear our prayers, through Christ our Lord. Amen. Faithful and generous Father, illumine our hearts to the wonders of our salvation. You have saved us from the futility of life, the fatality of sin, and the finality of death. You have saved us for enjoying the glories of Your heavenly kingdom and flourishing in intimate relationship with You forever. Your prophets searched diligently and inquired carefully into the grace that was destined for us. Your angels yearn intensely to behold the unfolding drama of salvation. May Your marvelous grace poured out upon us through Jesus Christ, the suffering servant, captivate our hearts once more. Amen. HOMILY: “Who Predicted the Cross — The Old Testament Prophets” . . Lord Jesus, we thank You for taking on human flesh and enduring pain and suffering for us. Through Your incarnation, You were able to overcome death and disarm the devil. Give us spiritual sight, that we might fully grasp our freedom from the devil’s deception. By your Spirit, give us courage to embody Your character as Your true children. In Jesus’ Name we pray.
