Phon Could Phon’s dreams of becoming a teacher come true? I would like to introduce you to Phon, a little five year old girl who lives in Laos. She is too young for school but Phon loves to sneak into the classroom with her older friends and watch the teacher. Phon’s dream is to one day become a teacher. Phon lives in a dilapidated house with her sick father and younger brother. Her mother earns a pittance working on the farm, so they can’t afford to repair the house which is on the verge of collapse. But it is their home. Phon’s dreams of becoming a teacher are not diminished. She knows that with the help of World Vision sponsors like you, she has a chance to make that dream become a reality. For as little as 75p a day you could give other children like Phon, real hope too. That’s less than the cost of a newspaper, or a cup of tea. You can break the cycle of poverty and help children like Phon reach for their dreams. Epoko “I'm not thirsty today because today I received water" Postcard 2 I would like to take you on a journey to Kenya. The sun is shining and it is very hot and the land is very dry. Imagine you have no water to wash in Imagine you have no water to drink. Now imagine this lasting for days and days and days… Feeling thirsty? Then imagine walking eight miles in the blistering heat, simply to quench your thirst. Imagine you are just a child and every step of that journey takes you closer to the danger of attack by raiders or wild animals. That agonising need for water is exactly what seven-year-old Epoko faced on her daily journey to the nearest spring when a severe drought hit her remote village. Supporters just like you took part in fundraising activities and raised funds for World Vision to enable them to install a water tank in Epoko’s village as an interim measure until pipes were laid to bring water into the area. Epoko responded by saying "I'm not thirsty today because today I received water” You could fundraise for World Vision UK and help Epoko and other children benefit from clean water, education and healthcare visit www.worldvision.org.uk/fundraise
