ISRAEL- AMERICA'S LIFELINE (Zechariah 2:8) The prophet Zechariah states that whoever fools with the Jewish Nation of Israel to harm them touches “the apple' or pupil of God's eye. The pupil of the eye is very sensitive and this statement tells us that when Israel is persecuted it gets God's immediate attention. GOD'S COVENANTS WITH ISRAEL Genesis 12:3 Almost four thousand years ago God issued a universal promise to Abraham for everyone to see, to read, and to consider. This promise was a warning that to harm Abraham or (Israel) was to cause you to be cursed by God. Contrary, to be Israel's friend would cause blessings from God. Genesis 17:4-8 God established an everlasting covenant with Abraham and his descendants as a blessing to all people. The covenant is regarding Israel and the land God promised to Abraham and is an un-conditional covenant. God deals with the nations of the world according to this covenant. Genesis 26:3-4; 35:12 This everlasting covenant was passed from Abraham to Isaac then to Jacob and the seed (Israel) of Jacob. Exodus 19:5; Deuteronomy 30:19-20 God established His second covenant with Israel when He gave Moses the Law for the people to follow. This covenant was conditional with blessings and curses. Jer. 25:1-9, 11; Lev. 26:32-33; Dt. 28:63-65 These are some of the prophecies regarding the captivity and destruction of Israel if they would remain in unbelief and in their spiritual idolatry. THE DISPERSION OF ISRAEL Jeremiah 39:1-9 After many years of warning God's people they still would not repent and the city and all the people were destroyed or carried off to Babylon in the year 586 B.C. for seventy years. Deuteronomy 28:64 In 70 A.D. This prophecy was fulfilled to the letter when Titus and the Romans destroyed the Temple and Jerusalem killing over a million Jews. This began the second dispersion of God's people into all the world. Both dispersions are a testimonial to the authority of God's word. THE RESTORATION OF ISRAEL Leviticus 26:42-45 Although Israel broke God's covenant regarding Moses Law, He would never completely reject Israel because of His everlasting covenant with Abraham. Israel would be restored. Isaiah 11:11; 43:5-6 Around 750 B.C. Isaiah specifically prophesied about the restoration of Israel after the second dispersion. Ezekiel 36: 19, 24, 28 The prophet writes that the Jewish people would once again dwell in the land that God gave to Abraham and his seed. They would be regathered from all the nations of the world. Amos 9:14-15 After the second dispersion and the regathering of the Jewish people back to Israel they are in their beloved promised land for good. There will be no more dispersions as promised here. Ezekiel 37:1-12, 21, 25 The prophecy of the valley of dry bones is God's promise to Israel forever. Matthew 24:32-33; Jeremiah 24:1-5 The parable of the ‘Fig Tree’ regarding the rebirth of Israel. THE RESTORATION OF GOD'S CITY Zechariah 8:7-8 God chose Jerusalem for His purpose to work out His redemptive plan for mankind. Zechariah 8:22 The city of Jerusalem will become the center for the worship of God.

FRIENDS OF ISRAEL (Genesis 12:3) “And I Will Bless Them That Bless Thee...” President George Washington The first Jewish people of America came here in 1654 and were widely welcome in the New America. In 1790 President George Washington wrote several letters to the Jewish communities and one particular letter he said the following: “May the children of the stock of Abraham, who dwell in this land, continue to merit and enjoy the good will of the other inhabitants, while everyone shall sit under his own vine and fig tree...”. The President was clearly referring to Micah 4:4 in the O.T. President Abraham Lincoln During the civil war on December 17, 1862 General U.S. Grant issued an order that would expel all Jewish people from Kentucky because of a few unscrupulous merchants that were trading with the South. As soon as President Lincoln found out about the order he sent his own order back to General Grant evoking the order to expel the Jews from Kentucky. It is historically recorded that President Lincoln said “And so the children of Israel were driven from the land of Canaan. Yes, and this is why we have come to Father Abraham, to ask his protection, and this protection they shall have at once.” President Woodrow Wilson Through many events that were obviously inspired by God, during W.W. I this President used the power of the U.S. To intervene in an attempt to kill and destroy tens of thousands of Jews in Turkey. Hindsight shows that because of his courage and concern for the Jewish people the early Zionist movement was saved and continued until the rebirth of Israel in 1948. President Harry S. Truman After W.W. II the Jewish people were in desperate straights. Millions had been killed. They had no where to go with no friends in the world. On May 12, 1948 the President called a meeting of his top State Dept. and military leaders in order to get advice on recognizing or not recognizing the new the coming Jewish state that the U.N. Had planned. Most of his advisers were against the U.S. Recognizing the new nation because of impending war with the surrounding countries. President Truman went directly against all the advisers and though the U.N. were working feverishly to dissolve the resolution for the Jewish state, he was the first national leader to recognize the new Jewish Nation of Israel and thus America became the biggest and strongest friend of Israel. William E. Blackstone This man was an American Evangelist during the time of D.L. Moody. Blackstone preached and taught the Rapture, the second coming of Christ and the restoration of God's people back to Israel. He fought for the rights of the Jews to return to their “rightful homeland given to them by God”. Blackstone met with President Harrison and presented him with what is known as “The Blackstone Memorial”, a plea for a Jewish state. In 1922 the United States became the first country in the world that passed a joint resolution to support the establishment of a Jewish State in Palestine. FRIENDS OF AMERICA Haym Salomon This great Jewish American hero was highly educated (seven languages) and an expert in international finance. He basically saved America from going bankrupt after the revolutionary war. He personally made large no interest loans to three different Presidents and personally backed the international loans the U.S. had to have in order to stay solvent. Joseph Seligman Here is another Jewish American hero. Seligman was a wealthy international clothier during the Civil War and had vast contacts with European Banks. The U.S. Needed large amounts of cash to fund the war but had very little funds available. Seligman bought over two hundred million dollars worth of U.S. Bonds and cashed them through his European banking contacts. These two Jewish Americans were instrumental in keeping America solvent through tough times.
