• Tour 1: NDSU Beef Cattle Research Complex • State of the art facility designed to meet the needs of beef cattle research at NSDU as well into the future. The center allows NDSU to accomplish the vast array of research needed to meet the challenges of 21st century beef cattle production. The cattle complex consists of a feeding area, animal handling, calving pens and lab space.

7-8 a.m.

Commodity Trading Room • NDSU applied agriculture economics has a teaching platform for commodity trading, marketing, logistics and risk management. The trading room offers a trading atmosphere with market information displays and computers with trading software. The room is a continuation of NDSU agriculture investing, in collaboration with industry partners, to keep its reaching and teaching state of the art. Research Greenhouse Complex • The 41,600 square-foot complex provides a modern facility to advance current research capabilities and enhance student learning. Research in plant breeding, genetics, horticulture, entomology, plant pathology, plant nutrition and associated other areas will continue to thrive. Northern Crops Institute • This is a collective effort among North Dakota, Minnesota, Montana and South Dakota to support the promotion and market development of crops grown in the four state regions. It is an international meeting and learning center which brings together customers, commodity traders, technical experts and processors for discussion, education and technical services. • Tour 2: Great Plains Food Bank • The Greater Fargo-Moorhead Area Food Bank opened the doors in 1930 recovering over 189,000 pounds of product from the food industry and distributed to a network of 21 feeding programs in its first year. The food bank mission is to end hunger in North Dakota and western Minnesota through community partnerships. This stop will include a tour and service project. Hjemkomst Center • The Hjemkomst Center houses the Viking ship, built by Robert Asp and was sailed to Norway in 1982. The center is also home to Hopperstad Stave Church replica, Clay County archives and other museum exhibits. 6-6:30 p.m.
