Fasteners shall be corrosion-resistant nails with a 3/8 inch diameter (9.5 mm) head and 1/8 inch diameter (3.2 mm) smooth shank, and shall be long enough to penetrate the framing a minimum of 1 inch (12.7 mm). Nails shall be installed through the center of the nailing slots, a maximum of 16 inches (406 mm) on center, and shall be driven only far enough to hold the elements in place, leaving a minimum 1/32 inch (0.8 mm) space between the fasteners head and the face of the vinyl nailing rail, so as not to restrict movement due to expansion and contraction. ONE-HOUR NONLOAD-BEARING FIRERESISTANCE ASSEMBLY (EXPOSED FROM BOTH SIDES)
One layer of 5/8 in. (15.9 mm) thick Type X Gypsum Wallboard (interior face). 3 5/8 in. (92 mm) C-channel corrosion resistant steel studs spaced 16 in. (406 mm) on center. 3 in. (76.2 mm) thick by 16 in. (406.4 mm) wide Thermafiber Batt Insulation. One layer of 5/8 in. (15.9 mm) thick Type X Gypsum Sheathing (exterior face). 0.040 in. (1.02 mm) thick Double 4 in. (101.6 mm) vinyl siding. The vinyl siding shall be mechanically fastened to the gypsum sheathing with #6 Type S drywall screws, 1 5/8 in. (41.3 mm) long, spaced 16 in. (406 mm) on center in the field and 6 in. (152 mm) on center along the joints and perimeter.
