Join us for Parenting is HeartWork: a seminar & discussion of raising our children in light of our Christian faith. Exploring scriptural principles & discovering practical tools along the way. Our time will be led by Shelley Melvin, mother of two, with 20 years experience as Director of Children’s Ministries, trained by the National Center for Biblical Parenting (biblicalparenting.org), and parent coach on staff here at Providence Church. Shelley also offers oneon-one sessions with parents if needed which can be arranged after the seminar, or at a later date. We urge both parents/guardians to attend if possible. A heart-based approach to parenting provides deeper and longer lasting changes in a child’s life. It starts with some specific techniques for getting things done in family life with less tension, and helping children receive correction better. This hopeful seminar provides practical, biblical tools that bring significant change in a family, both parents and their kids.

WAY S TO GIV E We are called to be generous and give out of a heart of gratitude for the extravagant and sacrificial gift of God to us through Jesus. “For God so loved the world that He gave...” (John 3:16) rings true for all of us. At Providence, your gifts go to lead people to grow in their faith, hope, and love for Jesus.

JANUARY HIGHLIGHT:

PARTNERSHIP

YoungLife

Young Life doesn’t start with a program. It starts with adults concerned enough about kids to go to them, on their turf and in their culture, building bridges of authentic friendship. These relationships don’t happen overnight — they take time, patience, trust and consistency. So Young Life leaders log many hours with kids around the world — where they are, as they are. We believe in the power of presence. Kids’ lives are dramatically impacted when caring adults come alongside them, sharing God’s love with them. Because their leader believes in them, they begin to see that their lives have great worth, meaning and purpose.
