In the championship game, the Raiders had contributions from just about everyone on the roster with the biggest pushes to victory coming in the second inning. Southridge led 2-0 entering the second inning but sent 15 runners to the plate in the second, scored 12 runs including a two-run home run from Montgomery (just the second homer at League Stadium this year, Max Sermersheim had one earlier in the season) and four RBIs from Schank on two separate at bats (a two-RBI single at the beginning of the inning and a two-RBI triple near the end of the inning).

The mix of younger players such as Montgomery, Gasser and Chase Taylor and seniors such as Harter, Smith and Sermersheim have combined to have the perfect balance for the Raiders this season. The upperclassmen have tried to do what they can to make sure they’re instilling lessons in leadership for the younger guys on the roster. “We’ve tried our best to be good role models to the underclassmen because one day they’re going to fill our shoes and be the leaders on a team like this,” Harter said. Smith added, “We’ve taught them that hard work definitely

pays off and they just need to continuously work everyday to get better. We have to make sure they know how to lead properly and take care of the young ones below them.” The Raiders will travel to Austin on Saturday for a regional semifinal battle with Switzerland County at 1:30 p.m. The Pacers (12-10) defeated Class 2A No. 10 South Ripley 6-3 to advance to the regional while North Posey and Clarksville will meet in the other regional semifinal. The key for Southridge to make this postseason run last a little longer?

“Focus — everything we’ve done to get us here is what we have to do in order for us to be successful in our next game,” Mattingly said. “We’re not looking toward any regional title, we’re looking toward the next game. We’re hoping to put together seven quality innings and see what happens when it’s over.” “The last couple of years haven’t been the best around the baseball field so they just kind of wanted the mindset to change,” Harter said. “We knew we had the pieces this year so we just have to keep this going and ride this momentum as long as we can.”

School and are hoping to bounce back after being defeated by South Bend St. Joseph in the first round of the tournament last year. But no matter what happens

this week, it’ll be the seniors final time playing tennis for the Jasper Wildcat program so they’re hoping to have as much as fun as they can and live it up one final time.

“We know that no matter what happens this will be our last week of tennis so we have to go out there and give it our all,” Getzin said. Yarbrough added, “A couple of

years ago the girls were kind of taking it on the chin because the boys had gone to state four years in a row. So they kind of said ‘Hey, if the boys can do it..” and now, it’s their turn.”

ter’s box and connected on a double to score White and Dupont, tying the game at 4-4. The final run came during freshman third baseman Jalen Oxley’s at-bat. Eisenhut sailed one that just got past Fuhrman. Molinet took off, and Oxley stepped back as the right fielder sprinted down the third baseline to slide in head-first and score the winning run. The Jeeps and their fans could do nothing but look on in shock and awe. Eisenhut finished with four

strikeouts and allowed five runs on nine hits with one walk. He also hit 2-for-3 with two RBsI and a walk. Griffen Bauer went 1-for4 with two RBIs, and Reece Bauer had two hits. Tecumseh starter Spencer Buse finished with nine strikeouts and allowed four runs on seven hits with one walk. Molinet finished one-for-three with a homer, Brucken had two hits and two RBI, and Green had an RBI. Oxley also finished with two hits.

Northeast Dubois was understandably upset from the result of the game and narrowly missing out on the sectional crown. It will take some time for the sting of this one to wear off, but even in the immediate aftermath the team was starting to find a silver lining to their otherwise solid season out on the field. “We were just a group of friends,” said Eisenhut, when asked how he would remember the season. “We wanted to go all

the way to state, but we got beat by a good team. We’ll cherish these memories for the rest of our lives.” “The seniors did such a good job of taking some of the new things we gave them and running with those things,” Woolems added. “Our (underclassmen) did whatever we asked them to do. Whether it was picking guys up at the end of innings or keeping charts during the game. And they grinded out every practice. I’m very proud of them.”

How does Mattingly describe the junior ace? “Bulldog — that kid is a bulldog,” Mattingly said. “We tell him to go out and beat some of the best teams and he just does it. He doesn’t flinch and he wants the baseball in those situations.” Seger, who was named the sectional MVP, added, “Knowing that my defense behind me can make plays all night and my catcher will block anything that I throw at him really gives me the confidence to throw whatever I want in whatever count.”

Jeeps (Concluded from Page 20) baseman Austin White reached first behind a single, and was advanced behind another base hit from senior shortstop Aaron Beard. Dupont was able to reach first base after his turn at the plate, but Beard was forced out at second and White advanced to third. Molinet was plunked by Eisenhut to load the bases. Then with two out, Brucken took to the bat-
