JOB DESCRIPTION: The Senior Accountant will be based in New York City, reporting directly to the Director of Finance. The ideal candidate should possess 7-10 years of experience in Accounting and Finance, primarily in financial reporting, internal control, treasury and consolidation accounting. Non-profit fund accounting experience is required. KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE: 7-10 years of prior experience in Accounting, including at least 2 years in non-profit accounting with advanced knowledge in: Financial and Accounting functions – general ledger recording and financial reporting Consolidation Accounting – knowledge of Financial Accounting Standards, historical costs, and foreign currency conversions Treasury related functions – cash budgeting, wire transfers, bank reconciliations, credit card and webbased transactions Public accounting experience is preferred and considered highly valuable Familiarity of “Blackbaud- Financial Edge” software a significant plus KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Assist in the monthly general ledger closing of Books & Records using Blackbaud’s “Financial Edge” software Assist preparing year-end analysis schedules required by Auditors, including templates required for the Not-for-Profit tax return (Form 990) Follow-up on correspondence with the IRS and State authorities regarding annual tax filings Prepare ad-hoc spreadsheets and reports as required Prepare detail and summary analyses of budgets Assist with the year-end worldwide consolidation process, including analysis and compilation of financials of certain non-U.S. entities Assist on treasury functions: supervise preparation of daily wire transfers, weekly and monthly A/P checks, and maintain the daily cash activity log of all bank accounts Prepare annual Form 1099 returns and 1096 transmittal sheets for independent contractors’ payments from all U.S. entities SKILLS/ QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting Knowledge of the Armenian language strongly preferred Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills Strong organizational and time management skills Ability to work independently, while also participating collaboratively as part of a team and accepting responsibilities from supervisors and delegating duties to other staff Ability to prioritize and complete deliverables with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail United States citizenship or residency required Ideal candidate must demonstrate core AGBU values: Trust, Accountability, Teamwork, Service and Respect for Diversity.
