Share the Light Family Advent

Advent means “coming.” During Christmas we celebrate advent as a way to thank God for sending Jesus to us. Set aside a few minutes this week to do this advent devotional with your family.

SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 27 Say

Today we celebrate the light of hope. Hope believes that something good can come out of something bad. The Israelites, God’s chosen people, had been waiting for a savior for hundreds of years. The birth of Jesus brought hope and the promise of a new beginning for everyone.

Read John 1:1-9

Ask

What is it like to sit alone in a dark room? How was the birth of Jesus like turning on a bright light in a dark place?

Pray

Thank you God for sending Jesus your Son. He is our only true source of hope. Help us to share the light of hope with everyone we meet. In Jesus name, Amen.

Do

Write this sentence: “I can light the world TODAY by sharing HOPE with everyone I meet.” on a sticky note or index card for each person in your family. Stick your note next to the light switch or on a lamp that you turn on every day. Every time you see it this week let it remind you to bring the HOPE of Jesus to your world.
